A major controversy has emerged from the Nashik unit of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), where multiple employees have been suspended following serious allegations of sexual harassment and forced religious conversion. The company has reiterated its strict zero-tolerance policy toward workplace misconduct while confirming its full cooperation with law enforcement authorities.

At the center of the case is Nida Khan, who was suspended last week after the company became aware of what it described as a “serious matter.” According to a suspension letter accessed by NDTV, Khan—who joined TCS in December 2021 as a process associate—has been placed under suspension with immediate effect, as she is currently in judicial or police custody and unable to perform her duties.

Nida khan moves for anticipatory bail

The letter, dated April 9 and signed by HR head Shekhar Kamble, stated that Khan’s access to the company’s systems had been temporarily revoked. She was also instructed to surrender any company assets in her possession and refrain from contacting colleagues or discussing the matter, with strict confidentiality mandated. The communication warned of disciplinary action in case of non-compliance.

The case stems from a complaint filed by a woman who accused her colleague, Danish Sheikh, of engaging in a relationship with her under the false promise of marriage, despite already being married. The police report further alleges that Khan—identified as Sheikh’s sister—along with another individual, Tausif Akhtar, concealed this fact and made derogatory remarks about the complainant’s religion, allegedly pressuring her to convert.

As the investigation progressed, the scope of the case widened significantly. Seven additional women came forward with allegations of mental and sexual harassment by senior employees, claiming that their complaints were ignored by the human resources department. These incidents reportedly occurred over a four-year period, from February 2022 to March 2026.

Law enforcement authorities have so far arrested seven individuals, including six men and one woman who served as an HR head. Meanwhile, Khan had reportedly been absconding but was recently located in Mumbai, according to her family.

In a new development, Khan has approached a local court in Nashik seeking anticipatory bail. Her lawyer, Baba Sayyed, stated that she is expecting her first child and argued that there are no direct or serious allegations against her. He maintained that her involvement was limited and that she did not commit any criminal act.

The case has sparked widespread concern over workplace safety, accountability, and the handling of harassment complaints within large organizations. As investigations continue, both legal proceedings and internal corporate actions are expected to play a critical role in determining the outcome.
