Television actor Ram Kapoor has sparked a major controversy on Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa after making comments about infidelity in marriage, triggering a heated debate both inside the house and on social media.
The actor, who has already been in the spotlight for previous controversial remarks and behavioural issues on the show, is now facing fresh criticism for his views on cheating in relationships. His statement suggesting that infidelity is not necessarily a deal breaker in a marriage has divided audiences online.
Ram Kapoor’s View on Infidelity
During a conversation inside the house, fellow contestant Shreya Kalra asked Ram Kapoor whether he would end a relationship if he found out his partner had cheated on him.
Responding to the question, Ram said that he believes love and long-term relationships require effort and understanding, and that betrayal does not always have to mean the end of a marriage.
He said, “No, you find the connection again. If you really love your partner, nothing is a deal breaker. Marriage is hard, and it’s a journey. You have to work at your marriage every day.”
Ram further explained that over the course of a long marriage, couples often go through emotional ups and downs, and mistakes can happen during difficult phases.
He added, “During 20–25 years of marriage, there are highs and lows. If during a bad phase, one person makes a mistake, and later you realise you cannot live without your partner or children, time heals everything. Sometimes it happens by mistake.”
Akanksha Chamola Disagrees
His comments did not go unchallenged inside the house. Actor Akanksha Chamola strongly disagreed with Ram’s perspective, stating that physical infidelity cannot be dismissed as a mistake.
She argued that such actions involve conscious decisions and cannot happen accidentally, emphasizing personal responsibility in relationships.
Social Media Reaction
The clip quickly went viral after being shared online, where viewers reacted strongly to Ram Kapoor’s statements. While some agreed that long-term relationships require forgiveness and understanding, many criticised his views, calling them problematic and unacceptable.
One user commented, “Ram Kapoor really lost his mind.” Another wrote, “Cheating can never be justified, no matter how you explain it.” Others expressed disappointment, saying they found his opinion shocking and difficult to accept given his public image.
The debate has once again highlighted how reality shows continue to spark intense conversations around personal beliefs, relationships, and morality.
