Actor Sonam Bajwa has expressed concern over the clashes between police and protesters during the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)-led march in Delhi, saying the visuals from the protest left her deeply saddened. She joined several celebrities who have spoken out after students and activists were allegedly injured during the demonstration.
The CJP had organised the “Chalo Sansad” march from Jantar Mantar to Parliament, demanding accountability over alleged examination irregularities and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The protest, which saw participation from thousands of students and supporters, turned tense after clashes broke out between protesters and security personnel.
Sharing her thoughts on Instagram, Sonam Bajwa said that young people raising their voices should not be treated as a threat. She questioned why students were met with force instead of being heard through dialogue.

In her post, she wrote that the issue was not about politics but about empathy and humanity. She added that students deserve to have their concerns acknowledged rather than being hurt during a protest.
Expressing her emotional reaction to the incident, Sonam wrote, “Kal ke visuals dekh kar dil sach mein toot gaya” (My heart truly broke after seeing yesterday’s visuals). She further said that standing up for humanity should come before choosing sides.
The protest initially began peacefully, with several demonstrators carrying flowers for police personnel as a gesture of goodwill. However, tensions escalated when large crowds attempted to move beyond barricades set up by security forces near Parliament.
According to reports, protesters climbed barricades in an attempt to continue their march, following which police used lathi-charge and tear gas shells to control the crowd. Several protesters were injured during the clashes, with some visuals showing people suffering head injuries.
The CJP alleged that police action was excessive and accused security personnel of attacking a vehicle carrying party founder Abhijeet Dipke, activist Sonam Wangchuk’s wife Gitanjali J Angmo, and actors Shabana Azmi and Prakash Raj.
Meanwhile, Delhi Police presented a different version of events, stating that protesters became aggressive and violated restrictions imposed in the area. Police alleged that some demonstrators attacked personnel with stones, damaged vehicles, and attempted to break security barricades.
Authorities also reported injuries among police personnel and said cases had been registered over alleged violence and damage to public property. Several protesters were detained from areas including Jantar Mantar, Parliament Street, Patel Chowk, Janpath, and Mandi House.
With reactions pouring in from various public figures, the CJP protest has sparked a nationwide debate over student concerns, the right to protest, and the response of authorities during public demonstrations.
