Almighty Motion Picture to Bring Harsh Mariwala’s Entrepreneurial Journey to the Big Screen
Mumbai: Almighty Motion Picture, the production house behind Made In India A Titan Story, is set to expand its creative horizons with a new and ambitious project: the cinematic adaptation of the bestselling business book Harsh Realities: The Making of Marico. The book chronicles the inspiring journey of Harsh Mariwala, Chairman and Founder of Marico, co-authored with globally respected business strategist Ram Charan.
The story captures Mariwala’s bold decision in 1987 to break away from the family-run Bombay Oil Industries Ltd. and establish Marico, which would go on to become a global FMCG powerhouse. Beyond corporate milestones, the book and its upcoming adaptation highlight the grit, risk-taking, and strategic thinking that transformed a traditional business into a professionally managed international enterprise.
Creative Team and Vision
The adaptation will be scripted by award-winning writer Karan Vyas, known for his acclaimed work on series like Scam 1992, Scoop, and Made in India – A Titan Story. Development on the project is already underway.
Speaking about the venture, Almighty Motion Picture co-founder Prabhleen Sandhu said, “It’s an extraordinary story and we at Almighty Motion Picture feel fortunate to have the opportunity to bring it to the celluloid.” Her co-founder, Sunita Vinod Vyas, added, “At Almighty Motion Picture, we have always wanted to tell important Indian stories. Mr. Mariwala’s journey is extremely inspiring, and it is an honour for us to bring it to the screen in a cinematic form.”
Karan Vyas expressed similar excitement: “It is an honour to get the opportunity to write such a real and inspiring story. I feel grateful and thankful to God to be part of this journey.”

Harsh Mariwala on the Adaptation
Harsh Mariwala reflected on the story’s significance:
“Every entrepreneurial journey carries moments that rarely make it to the headlines—the doubts, the long nights, and the decisions that quietly shape the direction of a business. Harsh Realities came from those lived experiences. Building a company calls for persistence, discipline, and the ability to stay steady through uncertainty. Seeing the book take a new form through its adaptation adds another dimension to the story. Cinema allows the journey to be experienced in a way that goes beyond words.”

Marico: A Global Success Story
Founded by Mariwala, Marico has grown into one of India’s most admired consumer goods companies, with an annual turnover exceeding INR 10.8 billion (USD 1.3 billion). Its products reach one in every three Indians, spanning iconic brands like Parachute, Saffola, Hair & Care, Parachute Advansed, Nihar Naturals, Mediker, Revive, Set Wet, Livon, Just Herbs, True Elements, Beardo, and Plix. The company also enjoys a strong international presence, with its business contributing about 25% of the Group’s revenue across Asia and Africa.
A Growing Trend in Indian Cinema
The project underscores a broader shift in storytelling: audiences and filmmakers are increasingly drawn to narratives rooted in India’s entrepreneurial and institution-building journeys. By bringing Mariwala’s story to the screen, Almighty Motion Picture aims to inspire viewers while celebrating the strategic thinking, resilience, and vision behind one of India’s most iconic companies.
With development underway, the adaptation promises to deliver not only the milestones of Marico’s corporate success but also the human stories, challenges, and leadership decisions that shaped it a compelling addition to the growing slate of Indian biographical and real-life films.
