Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor recently attended a Dussehra celebration in Kolkata to promote his upcoming film Ramayana. The actor was joined by his co-star Yash and West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari at an event held in Salt Lake on October 20. While Ranbir spoke about the victory of good over evil, a small slip-up in his speech caught everyone’s attention and quickly went viral on social media.

During the event, Ranbir greeted the audience with “Jai Shri Ram” and expressed his happiness at being part of the Dussehra celebrations in Kolkata. He thanked the chief minister and everyone present for welcoming him, describing it as an honour to celebrate the festival in the city.

However, while explaining the message behind Dussehra, the actor accidentally mixed up his words. He attempted to say that no matter how powerful evil becomes, goodness and honesty will ultimately triumph. Instead, he mistakenly suggested the opposite, creating an awkward yet amusing moment on stage. The people sitting alongside him exchanged glances before the event continued.

Despite the verbal slip, Ranbir’s speech focused on the importance of truth, righteousness and choosing the right path. He concluded by wishing everyone a happy Dussehra on behalf of the Ramayana team. Videos of the moment have since circulated widely on social media, with viewers discussing the unexpected mistake.

The event also brought attention to the upcoming film Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra. The ambitious project is one of the most anticipated films in Indian cinema, with the makers planning to present the epic story on a grand scale.

Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Rama, while Sai Pallavi portrays Sita. Yash will appear as Ravana, with Ravi Dubey playing Lakshman and Sunny Deol taking on the role of Hanuman. The cast also includes Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi and Kajal Aggarwal as Mandodari, among other actors.

The film aims to bring the timeless Indian epic to a new generation of viewers through large-scale visuals, an extensive cast and modern filmmaking techniques. With well-known actors associated with the project, expectations among audiences are already high.

According to the announced release plans, the first instalment is scheduled to arrive in theatres on November 5, 2026, around Diwali, while the second part is planned for release in 2027.

Will Ramayana Create a New Record in Bollywood?

With several filmmakers exploring stories from Indian mythology, Ramayana faces considerable expectations from audiences. The epic has been adapted for television and cinema multiple times, making it important for the new version to offer something distinctive while respecting the original story.

Ranbir Kapoor’s portrayal of Lord Rama and Yash’s transformation into Ravana have generated considerable curiosity. Viewers are eager to see how the filmmakers present the characters, their relationships and the legendary battle between good and evil.

The film’s success will ultimately depend on its storytelling, performances, visual effects and ability to connect emotionally with audiences. While its star cast and ambitious scale have created significant buzz, its box-office performance remains to be seen.

For now, Ranbir’s speech at the Kolkata Dussehra event has added another talking point to the film’s promotional campaign. As the release approaches, audiences will be watching closely to see whether Ramayana lives up to expectations and becomes one of Bollywood’s biggest cinematic spectacles.
