The 22-year-old, known for her role as Diya Tandon in Kumkum Bhagya, allegedly died by suicide at her home in Maharashtra’s Palghar district, leaving her family, friends and colleagues in deep shock.
As tributes continue to pour in, Kumkum Bhagya actor Mugdha Chaphekar shared an emotional message remembering her co-star and expressing the pain of losing someone so young.
Taking to Instagram, Mugdha posted a picture from the sets of Kumkum Bhagya featuring herself and Sanchita. Along with the photo, she penned an emotional note that reflected the disbelief and sadness many in the television industry are feeling.
Her simple yet heartbreaking words, “Why Sanchita?”, captured the emotions of fans and fellow actors who are struggling to understand the tragic loss.

Several members of the television fraternity also mourned Sanchita’s passing. Actor Sorab Bedi and many others shared condolences on social media, remembering her as a cheerful, hardworking and kind-hearted person who always carried a smile on the sets.
Sanchita had slowly built a name for herself in the entertainment industry. She gained recognition through Kumkum Bhagya and also appeared in Wagle Ki Duniya – Nayi Peedhi Naye Kisse. She later went on to play the lead role in Dilwali Dulha Le Jayegi.
Apart from television, she also stepped into films. She portrayed the younger version of Tara Rani in Vicky Kaushal’s historical drama Chhaava and was also seen in Manoj Bajpayee’s investigative thriller Silence 2: The Night Owl Bar Shootout.
One of the most heartbreaking aspects of the tragedy was that Sanchita had shared a cheerful dance video on social media just a few hours before her death. The clip, in which she was seen dancing and smiling, is now being widely shared by fans as they remember the young actor.
According to police officials, Sanchita allegedly died by suicide at her residence in Nalasopara. Authorities have registered an accidental death report and an investigation is underway. Police officials have stated that no suicide note was recovered from the spot.
