Ranveer Singh’s spy‑themed blockbuster Dhurandhar: The Revenge has already smashed records at the box office, and now the film is making headlines again but this time for where it’s not available. While the film is scheduled to hit Netflix overseas on May 14, 2026, Indian viewers will not find it on the global platform. Instead, the film is expected to land on a different OTT service, and this split has left fans in India confused and frustrated.

A Worldwide Netflix Debut With an Extended Cut

International fans will get their first look at Dhurandhar in the digital world through Netflix, where the film is being released under the title Dhurandhar: The Revenge (Raw & Unseen). The “Raw & Unseen” tagline hints not just at an uncensored version, but at a slightly longer, more detailed cut than the theatrical release.

Reports say the Netflix‑ready version runs for about 3 hours and 52 minutes, making it roughly three minutes longer than the original theatrical cut. The extension is believed to include a few extra scenes, extended credits, and some dialogues or sequences that may have been trimmed for the cinema version.

The description on Netflix calls it: “Driven by personal tragedy, Hamza dives deeper into his deep‑cover mission to ruin Pakistan’s criminal underworld in this unseen sequel to Dhurandhar.” This wording has only added to the hype, as fans eagerly speculating about what’s “unseen” and how much more backstory or action will be revealed.

Why Indian Viewers Can’t Watch It on Netflix

For audiences in India, however, Netflix won’t be the home for this release. The film’s makers have already signed a deal with JioHotstar for the Indian OTT rights, which means the film is set to stream in India on that platform instead of on Netflix.

This is a common pattern in big Bollywood releases—where international digital rights go to one global platform and Indian rights are retained for a domestic OTT service. In this case, JioHotstar is expected to carry the same extended cut, but the exact date has not been officially announced yet. Media reports are hinting that the film may arrive on JioHotstar on May 14, 2026, after completing a planned eight‑week theatrical run.

The fact that Netflix shows the film globally but not within India has created confusion, with many Indians wondering why they can’t just “subscribe” and watch the same version the rest of the world is getting.

The “Rang De Laal” Controversy and the OTT Window

The timing of the OTT release has also been shadowed by a legal dispute linked to the film’s climax track, Rang De Laal. The song is widely described as a remix of the 1989 classic Tirchi Topiwale from the film Tridev, which was directed and produced by Rajiv Rai.

Rajiv Rai reportedly approached the courts, claiming that the original song was used in a remixed version without proper permission. During a hearing, the film’s producers are said to have told the court that the movie was not expected to be released on OTT before mid‑May, which indirectly exposed the film’s digital release window and added to the speculation around the May 14 JioHotstar drop.

Fans are now watching this legal drama closely, unsure whether the final version on JioHotstar or Netflix will be the exact same track or if changes will be made to the song in the OTT release.

A Box Office Giant Heading for Digital

Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar: The Revenge is the second part of the high‑octane spy saga that stars Ranveer Singh as Hamza Ali Mazari, with Sara Arjun, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, and Rakesh Bedi in key roles.

The film has already made history at the box office, earning an estimated ₹1,791.55 crore worldwide, with ₹1,365.20 crore alone from the India box office and the remaining ₹426.35 crore from overseas markets. Such a massive theatrical run means the film is especially valuable in the OTT space, where audiences will be looking for the full, big‑screen experience in a living‑room setting.
