The question is no longer whether Dhurandhar 2 has broken records—it’s whether any recent film has managed to do so at this scale, and at this speed. In just one month since its release on March 19 (with paid previews beginning March 18), the film has rewritten the box office playbook, delivering a run that borders on unprecedented.

A Historic Start Before Release Day

Even before its official opening, Dhurandhar 2 signaled its intent. The film recorded the highest advance booking ever, selling around 925,000 tickets across major national cinema chains. That momentum carried straight into its paid previews, which alone generated a staggering ₹43 crore—the highest preview collection in Indian cinema history.

Record-Breaking Opening Day

The film exploded at the box office on Day 1, collecting ₹102.55 crore nett in India, setting a new benchmark for a Hindi film. Of this, ₹99.10 crore came from the Hindi version alone, making it the biggest single-day opening for a Hindi-language release. Including previews, the domestic Day 1 total soared to ₹145.55 crore.

Globally, the impact was just as massive. The film earned approximately ₹236.63 crore worldwide on its opening day, ranking among the biggest global debuts ever for an Indian film.

A Weekend and Week Like No Other

The opening weekend numbers were equally staggering, with Dhurandhar 2 amassing ₹674.17 crore nett in India—one of the highest weekend totals ever recorded. By the end of its first week, the film had already collected around ₹745 crore domestically, setting a new record for the biggest first week for a Bollywood film. The Hindi version alone contributed over ₹546 crore during this period.

Sustained Momentum and Speed Records

What truly set the film apart was its pace. It became the fastest Hindi film to cross ₹500 crore, achieving the milestone in just six days. Within 11 days, it had surged past ₹800 crore, and by Day 18, it crossed the historic ₹1,000 crore mark in India—becoming the first Hindi film ever to do so.

The sequel also outperformed its predecessor, Dhurandhar (₹840 crore nett), in just 11 days, making it one of the quickest sequels to surpass an already massive original.

Global Domination

On the international front, Dhurandhar 2 entered the ₹1,000 crore global club within its first week—one of the fastest Indian films to reach the milestone. Overseas markets played a crucial role, with collections crossing ₹260 crore early and eventually exceeding ₹400 crore by the end of the first month.

One of its standout achievements came in global distribution, where it emerged as the highest-grossing Indian film excluding Gulf and China markets, crossing ₹1,700 crore worldwide within weeks.

Rewriting the Record Books

By the end of its first month, Dhurandhar 2 had firmly established itself as the highest-grossing Hindi film ever in India, with over ₹1,100 crore nett. Its worldwide total, nearing ₹1,700 crore, placed it among the top three highest-grossing Indian films of all time.

A Phenomenon, Not Just a Film

Some films aim for records. Others occasionally break them. But Dhurandhar 2 has done something far rarer—it has overwhelmed the benchmarks themselves. With its blistering pace, massive scale, and sustained audience pull, the film has set a new standard for what a blockbuster can achieve in the modern era.
