Kareena Kapoor Khan has reacted to the much-talked-about box-office clash between her upcoming film Daayra and her brother-in-law Kunal Kemmu’s Vibe, both scheduled to release on September 18, 2026. Instead of treating the clash as a competition, Kareena said she is confident that both films can find their own audiences.
At the trailer launch of Daayra, Kareena was asked about sharing the release date with Kunal’s film. She immediately praised Kunal, calling him an outstanding actor and highlighting his comic timing. She also said audiences would get to see a different side of him in Vibe, which she described as a fun and comedy-driven film.
Kareena’s response became even more interesting when she spoke about the possibility of both films succeeding. Rather than worrying about losing business because of the clash, she looked at the situation from a family perspective and joked that if both films do well, the success will ultimately benefit their family.
She said, “mere ghar hi aayega na”, before adding, “clash to acchi baat hai, main aur mere Brother in law khush rahenge kyunki donon ki movie sath chalegi to jiski bhi chal jaaye maja aa jaega donon ko hi.”
Kareena also expressed confidence that both movies would perform well at the box office. Her comments show that she does not see Kunal as a competitor despite the two films arriving on the same day. Instead, she appears genuinely happy that both members of the family have major releases arriving together.
What are Daayra and Vibe about?
Daayra, directed by Meghna Gulzar, stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran. It is an investigative crime thriller centred on two police officers who find themselves on opposite sides while dealing with a controversial case. The film explores crime, justice and the difficult line between legal and moral choices.
On the other hand, Vibe is directed by Kunal Kemmu and stars Kunal Kemmu, Preity Zinta and Sparsh Shrivastava. The film follows two ordinary friends who unexpectedly become involved in a dangerous situation involving a terrorist plot, taking the story in a more comic and action-oriented direction.
The two films therefore offer very different experiences to audiences. Daayra is positioned as a serious investigative thriller, while Vibe brings comedy and action into its story. Kareena believes there is enough room for both films to succeed, rather than one necessarily hurting the other.
For Kareena, the clash has also become a fun family situation. With her own film and Kunal’s film releasing on the same day, she is hoping audiences support both projects.
Her positive attitude has also won attention because, instead of focusing only on her own film, Kareena openly praised her brother-in-law and encouraged audiences to watch Vibe as well.
