The war of words between television actors Hina Khan and Shilpa Shinde has intensified, with both stars taking indirect digs at each other on social media following Shilpa’s recent admission that she had filed a false sexual harassment complaint against a producer nearly a decade ago.
The controversy began after Shilpa Shinde revealed in an interview that she had lodged a fake sexual harassment case against Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! producer Sanjay R. Kohli during a dispute related to contractual obligations. Her admission sparked widespread criticism, with several celebrities, including Hina Khan and Pooja Bedi, questioning the implications of such actions.
As the debate gained momentum, Hina Khan took to Instagram Stories and shared a strongly worded, sarcastic message directed at the country’s leadership. Without naming Shilpa directly, Hina appeared to criticise the idea that admitting wrongdoing should be viewed as an act of courage.
“The Honourable Prime Minister of India, the Honourable President of India and the Law Minister of India, kindly release all the criminals who have confessed their crimes after committing them because they have courage. Because they are fighters. Because they stand with the truth,” Hina wrote.

Her statement was widely interpreted as a response to Shilpa’s justification of her past actions.
The exchange comes days after Shilpa Shinde seemingly took a veiled swipe at Hina Khan during an Instagram video. Although she did not mention Hina by name, Shilpa referred to people using personal hardships and family tragedies for publicity, comments many social media users linked to Hina’s public battle with cancer and the loss of her father.
In the video, Shilpa questioned why some individuals needed to mention her name for attention when they already received public sympathy and media coverage because of their personal struggles.
The remarks drew criticism online, with many fans accusing Shilpa of making insensitive comments about Hina’s health journey.
Earlier, Hina had also expressed concern over the broader impact of false allegations. She questioned what could happen if someone falsely accused suffered irreversible damage to their reputation, relationships or mental health.

She argued that using one’s gender as a weapon to settle personal scores should never be normalised and urged people to speak up against such behaviour. Hina also referenced her long-standing differences with Shilpa dating back to their time on Bigg Boss, urging her to move on from past grievances.
Meanwhile, Shilpa has maintained that she does not expect public support and has refused to justify her actions. Following her confession, the issue also attracted legal attention, with a Delhi-based men’s rights organisation reportedly seeking action from Mumbai Police regarding her admission.
