After eight years, several members of the Cine & TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA) executive committee have resigned, citing a loss of confidence in the leadership and raising concerns over the functioning of the association. Amid the ongoing internal dispute, a heated confrontation reportedly took place at CINTAA’s office in Mumbai, with videos of the incident circulating online.
The incident reportedly involved actors including Padmini Kolhapure, Poonam Dhillon, Upasna Singh and Kunickaa Sadanand, among others. In the videos, members can be seen arguing with each other while police officers appear to intervene and try to bring the situation under control.
The confrontation reportedly began amid allegations concerning CINTAA’s official paperwork and files. Kunickaa Sadanand had allegedly raised questions about whether association papers and files were moved to Poonam Dhillon’s vehicle and taken away. During the argument, some members were seen questioning Padmini Kolhapure about the matter and asking her whether she admitted to taking the papers.

Padmini, however, appeared to ask the members to show the relevant letter, declaration or official documentation regarding the matter. The discussion soon became heated, with police officers attempting to intervene and asking the actors to calm down.
In another part of the videos, Padmini can reportedly be heard questioning why her car was being scratched. The argument continued as different members put forward their side of the dispute.
Police officers were also seen trying to control the situation and reminding the people involved that they should maintain decorum. One officer reportedly expressed disappointment that the disagreement had reached this stage and urged the members to handle the matter through the appropriate process.
The latest confrontation comes amid a larger dispute within CINTAA. Eleven members, including elected representatives, have reportedly resigned from the 21-member executive committee. In a joint letter, the members raised allegations concerning the functioning of the association, including concerns about the leadership, collective decision-making and what they described as a departure from established governance procedures.
With more than half of the elected panel reportedly stepping down, questions have also been raised about the future functioning of the executive committee and whether the existing committee should continue or be dissolved.
Poonam Dhillon has reportedly opposed some of the allegations and has presented her own position on the matter. The disagreement between the members has now become increasingly public, with videos of the confrontation adding another layer to the controversy.
The situation has also raised questions about whether the dispute could lead to further legal or administrative action. At present, it remains unclear what steps the association or individual members will take following the confrontation.
For an organisation representing thousands of actors and artists, the controversy has become a serious internal matter. While disagreements within an association are not unusual, the public nature of the dispute and the resignation of a significant portion of the executive committee have put CINTAA’s leadership and governance under increased scrutiny.
The immediate question now is what happens next. Will the members find a way to resolve their differences internally, or will the ongoing dispute lead to further resignations, legal proceedings or changes within the association? For now, all eyes are on CINTAA as the controversy continues to unfold.
