Yash’s much-awaited film Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups has continued its strong run at the box office on Day 2. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the film opened in theatres with huge expectations and managed to attract audiences in large numbers despite receiving mixed reviews after its release.
The film reportedly crossed the ₹100 crore mark at the domestic box office, proving that the initial excitement surrounding Yash’s return to the big screen has translated into strong ticket sales. The second-day performance is particularly important because the movie faced criticism and trolling online over certain aspects of its story and presentation.
According to early box-office tracking, Toxic has been performing better in the Hindi market than in its original Kannada language, which is a major achievement for Yash. The Hindi version has reportedly contributed a significant portion of the film’s overall collection, while the Kannada version continues to maintain a solid presence.
The Telugu version has also been performing strongly and is reportedly following closely behind the Kannada market. Meanwhile, the Tamil and Malayalam versions have recorded comparatively lower numbers.

The film was expected to be compared closely with Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar because of the huge expectations surrounding both movies. Dhurandhar reportedly collected around ₹80.72 crore on its second day, while Toxic has been putting up strong numbers and creating its own box-office benchmark.
On its opening day, Toxic reportedly collected around ₹101 crore net in India, while its worldwide gross was estimated at around ₹140 crore. The film also recorded strong occupancy across thousands of shows, highlighting the huge demand for Yash’s comeback.
The Hindi market has emerged as one of the biggest strengths of the film. Reports suggest that the Hindi version collected around ₹55 crore, while the Kannada version contributed approximately ₹23.30 crore during the early phase of its theatrical run.
However, the film’s journey has not been completely smooth. Toxic has faced criticism over its violent and sensual scenes, while some viewers have also questioned the emotional depth and narrative of the film. Despite the mixed response, audiences have continued to visit theatres, showing that the controversy has not stopped the initial box-office momentum.
The movie was officially announced in 2023 and has been one of the most anticipated projects of Yash’s career. Its large-scale production, massive budget, action sequences and ensemble cast created huge expectations even before its release.

The biggest question now is whether Toxic can maintain this pace during the coming days. A strong weekend and positive word of mouth could push the film towards much bigger milestones, while continued negative reactions could affect its long-term performance.
