Kangana Ranaut’s latest release, Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, has finally arrived in theatres, bringing to the big screen a story inspired by the bravery of ordinary people during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. While the film has earned praise for highlighting the courage of Cama Hospital’s staff, its box office journey has started on a modest note.

According to early trade estimates, the Manoj Tapadia directorial collected around Rs 1 crore net in India on its opening day. The film reportedly grossed approximately Rs 1.19 crore, making for a slow but respectable start considering the competition it faced at the box office.

Released on June 12, Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata clashed with several new films, including Main Vaapas Aaunga, Governor and Haunted 3D. The crowded release calendar appears to have affected its opening-day numbers.

The film was screened across more than 2,000 shows and recorded an overall occupancy of nearly 12 percent. Morning shows witnessed a slow response, but audience turnout gradually improved as the day progressed.

The highest footfall was recorded during the night shows, indicating that positive word of mouth could help the film over the weekend. Industry experts believe that emotional dramas based on real events often depend on audience recommendations rather than massive opening-day collections.

Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata tells the untold story of the doctors, nurses and hospital staff at Mumbai’s Cama Hospital, who displayed extraordinary courage during the 26/11 attacks. Instead of focusing on armed forces or commandos, the film shines a light on healthcare workers who risked their own lives to protect patients and save countless others.

Speaking about the project, Kangana Ranaut said the film celebrates a quieter form of heroism.

According to the actress, true courage is not always loud or dramatic. Sometimes it is about staying back, taking responsibility and standing strong in the face of unimaginable danger.

She described the film as a tribute to sacrifice, humanity and patriotism, adding that it honours the people who held the city together during one of its darkest chapters.

Apart from Kangana Ranaut, the film also stars Girija Oak, Smita Tambe, Esha Dey and Prasad Oak in important roles. The ensemble cast brings to life the emotional and challenging circumstances faced by the hospital staff during the attacks.

The film is presented by PEN Studios and jointly produced by Manikarnika Films, Paramhans Creations, Eunoia Films LLP and Floating Rocks Entertainment.

Although the opening-day figures are not huge, the makers will now be hoping that strong reviews and positive audience reactions help the film gain momentum over the weekend. Movies based on true events often enjoy steady growth if viewers connect with the story emotionally.

With its focus on unsung heroes and a chapter of Indian history that still resonates deeply, Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata aims to leave a lasting impact beyond the box office numbers.
