Indian Worker Killed in Iranian Strike on Kuwaiti Facility Amid Escalating West Asia Tensions
An Indian national was killed early Monday after an Iranian strike targeted a power and water desalination facility in Kuwait, marking the latest casualty involving Indian citizens amid the intensifying West Asia conflict.
According to the Kuwait Ministry of Electricity and Water, the attack damaged a service building at the facility. In a statement posted on X, the ministry condemned the incident as a “sinful Iranian aggression” and confirmed that technical and emergency response teams were immediately deployed to contain the damage and maintain operations.
This latest incident brings the number of Indian nationals killed in the ongoing regional tensions to at least eight. It follows a separate episode last week in Abu Dhabi, where an Indian citizen lost their life after debris from an intercepted ballistic missile fell in a residential area. The Embassy of India in the UAE had then stated it was closely coordinating with local authorities to provide assistance and support to the affected family.
The strike in Kuwait underscores the growing risks faced by expatriate workers across the Gulf as tensions linked to the Iran-related conflict continue to escalate. Authorities in Kuwait are working to ensure safety and maintain essential services, while India’s Ministry of External Affairs is reportedly monitoring the situation closely and coordinating with local governments to safeguard Indian citizens in the region.
The incident highlights the vulnerability of civilian infrastructure and expatriate workers in conflict zones, and raises concerns over the potential for further casualties if regional hostilities intensify. Diplomatic channels are actively engaged in providing relief and ensuring that affected families receive necessary support.
