Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar recently watched Netflix’s war drama Operation Safed Sagar and praised the courage, discipline and mental strength of the Indian Air Force personnel who served during the Kargil War.
The series focuses on the Indian Air Force’s role during the Kargil conflict, highlighting the challenges faced by the forces and the operations that played an important role in turning the tide of the war in India’s favour. The show has received appreciation from viewers for bringing the stories of the armed forces to the screen.
Sachin, who holds the honorary rank of Group Captain in the Indian Air Force, shared his thoughts about the series on his X account. After watching Operation Safed Sagar, he reflected on how different life can be for those serving on the front lines compared with people living their everyday lives.
Sharing his thoughts, Sachin wrote, “Dear @IAF_MCC, just finished watching Operation Safed Sagar. It made me think about how different life is for the people who are out there carrying the pressure and uncertainty, while the rest of us are able to sleep peacefully and carry on with our everyday lives.”

He further praised the extraordinary courage of the armed forces and said that the discipline and mental strength behind their service deserve immense respect.
Sachin also recalled meeting Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa many years ago. After watching the series and learning more about what Dhanoa and several other officers experienced during the Kargil conflict, Tendulkar said that the show made him look back at that meeting with an even deeper sense of appreciation.
He expressed his gratitude towards the Indian Air Force and said that he feels fortunate to be associated with the force and to understand some of the values that define it.
Sachin wrote, “I feel fortunate to be associated with the IAF and have an understanding of the values that define it. Watching this story only made me feel more grateful.”
He also thanked the Indian Air Force for its service and sacrifice.

Dhanoa was also a fighter pilot and commanded No. 17 Squadron, known as the Golden Arrows, during the Kargil War. He flew MiG-21 aircraft during the conflict.
After watching Operation Safed Sagar, Sachin said that learning more about the experiences of Dhanoa and other members of the armed forces made him appreciate their courage even more.
