Ukraine’s capital Kyiv came under a fresh wave of overnight missile and drone attacks, as renewed strikes caused widespread damage, fires, and civilian casualties across multiple districts.
According to local authorities, the assault involved a combination of missiles and drones targeting residential and urban infrastructure. Multiple fires broke out following the strikes, with emergency services deployed across affected areas to contain the damage and rescue trapped residents.
Officials reported that several people were killed and many others injured in the attack. Among the damaged structures was an 18-storey residential building, which was hit during the overnight barrage, leaving significant destruction and prompting urgent evacuation efforts.
The latest strike adds to a continuing pattern of aerial attacks during the ongoing conflict involving Russia and Ukraine, which has repeatedly seen civilian areas and infrastructure affected despite international calls for de-escalation.
Emergency crews continued search-and-rescue operations into the morning as authorities assessed the full extent of the damage. Residents in multiple districts were advised to remain alert due to the possibility of further strikes.
Officials have condemned the attack, calling it part of an escalating campaign of aerial assaults, while reaffirming efforts to strengthen air defense systems and protect critical infrastructure in the capital.
