Yash is generating strong buzz for his upcoming film Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, as the actor revealed new insights into the project’s layered storytelling and psychological depth during a recent interaction at CinemaCon 2026.
The actor, who was present alongside producer Namit Malhotra while promoting Ramayana, clarified that Toxic is far from a conventional gangster drama. The film, directed by Geetu Mohandas, is currently slated for a June 4 release after being postponed from its earlier March window to avoid a box office clash and build stronger anticipation.
Speaking to Fandango correspondent Nikki Novak, Yash emphasized that the film operates on multiple emotional and psychological layers. “Once again, it’s not a typical gangster action story. For the face value, it will look like a gangster movie with a lot of action, but it has got deep psychology and it’s got very interesting aspects of human life where you can resonate with,” he said.
Yash further highlighted that the strength of the film lies in its exploration of human behaviour and emotional complexity, rather than just action-driven spectacle. According to him, the narrative pushes beyond genre boundaries to present a more introspective cinematic experience.
The actor also spoke about his experience portraying a darker character, something he said he enjoys as it allows him greater creative freedom. “There is no boundary when you play a dark character,” he shared, adding that the film features multiple shades of characters, diverse looks, and a strong ensemble cast working together to bring the story to life.
Set against a high-stakes backdrop, Toxic is being produced under KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations, with Yash himself also serving as a producer. The film is written and shot in Kannada and English, and will release in multiple dubbed languages including Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam.
The ensemble cast includes Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, and Rukmini Vasanth alongside Yash in pivotal roles.
With its psychological undertones, international appeal, and star-studded cast, Toxic is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated releases of 2026, marking another ambitious step in Yash’s evolving filmography.
