The entertainment industry is mourning the loss of veteran actor Ramakant Dayama, who passed away on May 26 in Mumbai at the age of 69 after battling a prolonged illness. Known for his memorable contributions to films, television, and theatre, the actor’s demise has left his colleagues, friends, and fans deeply saddened.
The heartbreaking news was confirmed by actress and close friend Shubhangi Latkar through an emotional social media post. Sharing an old video of Ramakant Dayama singing, dancing, and laughing with friends, she remembered him as a man full of warmth, courage, and life.
In her heartfelt tribute, Shubhangi wrote that Ramakant was not just a dear friend but someone she deeply admired and respected. She described him as a spontaneous dancer, soulful singer, brilliant actor, and a wise advisor whose words always carried meaning. She also recalled how, despite his health struggles, he continued to embrace life with positivity and energy.
Remembering the dreams they could never fulfil together, she revealed that the two had planned to reunite for a Hindi play after many years. According to her, whenever she requested him to start working again, he would smile and say, “Let me get well soon.” They had also planned poetry performances together, a dream that now remains incomplete.

Calling his death an irreplaceable loss, Shubhangi shared that some silences are too deep for words, and this was one of those moments. She added that Ramakant Dayama’s warmth, courage, art, and beautiful spirit would always remain alive in the hearts of those who knew him.
The CINTAA also paid tribute to the late actor through a condolence message. The association remembered him as a respected former Executive Committee Member whose dedication and contribution to the artist community would always be cherished. The statement praised his integrity, warmth, and service towards fellow artists throughout his career.
Apart from being a respected actor, Ramakant Dayama was also known as the father of actress and influencer Yashaswini Dayama. Over the years, he appeared in several notable projects including the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Chak De! India and the critically acclaimed Dhanak. His contribution to Indian theatre was equally admired, earning him immense respect within the artistic community.
With his passing, the industry has lost not only a talented performer but also a compassionate and inspiring human being whose legacy will continue to live on through his work and memories.
