Samantha Ruth Prabhu has plenty to celebrate as her latest film, Maa Inti Bangaaram, has made an impressive start at the box office. Released on Friday, the action drama directed by Nandini Reddy opened to positive reviews and strong audience support, emerging as one of Samantha’s biggest solo successes to date.
According to early box office estimates, the film collected ₹5.35 crore net in India on its opening day. The numbers are particularly significant because they surpass the first-day collections of several female-led films released in recent years, including Samantha’s own Yashoda, which had opened at ₹3.06 crore.
The opening also places Maa Inti Bangaaram ahead of Ghaati starring Anushka Shetty and The Girlfriend featuring Rashmika Mandanna. Even Samantha and Nandini Reddy’s beloved 2019 hit Oh! Baby had opened with lower numbers, making Maa Inti Bangaaram Samantha’s strongest solo opening so far.

The film’s success is being attributed to a combination of positive word-of-mouth, Samantha’s star power, and the film’s unique blend of family drama and action. Audiences have particularly appreciated seeing Samantha in a powerful action-oriented role while still carrying the emotional weight of a family story.
Created by Raj Nidimoru of Raj & DK fame and directed by Nandini Reddy, the film follows Swarna, a woman trying to protect her family from a dangerous chapter of her past. What begins as a story about a daughter-in-law attempting to win over her husband’s family gradually transforms into an intense action drama when old enemies return to threaten her peaceful life.
Alongside Samantha, the film features strong performances from Gulshan Devaiah, Diganth Manchale, Gautami and Sreemukhi. Samantha’s performance, in particular, has received widespread praise, with many viewers calling it one of her most confident and commanding roles in recent years.
The film has also benefited from strong reviews that highlighted its action sequences, emotional depth and Samantha’s screen presence. Many critics have pointed out that the actor shines in action-driven roles and carries the film effortlessly from start to finish.
With a successful opening day and encouraging audience response, all eyes are now on the weekend collections. If the positive momentum continues, Maa Inti Bangaaram could go on to become one of the biggest female-led Telugu hits of the year and another major milestone in Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s career.
