Mohammed Siraj consoles Zanai Bhosle at Asha Bhosle’s funeral; emotional video goes viral

Cricketer Mohammed Siraj was seen paying his last respects to legendary singer Asha Bhosle at her Mumbai residence, where he also shared an emotional moment with her granddaughter Zanai Bhosle. A video of the interaction has since gone viral on social media.

In the clip, Siraj is seen moving through the crowd during the antim darshan as family members and well-wishers gathered to bid farewell to the iconic singer. He is later seen meeting Zanai Bhosle, who appears visibly distressed and breaks down in grief following her grandmother’s passing.

Siraj is then seen comforting her and staying by her side, a gesture that has drawn widespread attention online. The moment has been widely shared across social media platforms, with many users praising the cricketer’s empathy during a deeply emotional occasion.

Siraj and Zanai Bhosle are known to share a friendly bond. Last year, Zanai had shared a video of herself tying a rakhi to the Indian pacer, highlighting their sibling-like relationship.

Zanai Bhosle had earlier informed the public about Asha Bhosle’s health condition, stating that the veteran singer had been admitted to hospital due to extreme exhaustion and a chest infection. She had requested privacy for the family while treatment was underway.

On Sunday, doctors confirmed that Asha Bhosle passed away at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital due to multi-organ failure after battling multiple health complications.

The passing of Asha Bhosle has triggered an outpouring of grief across the country and beyond. One of India’s most celebrated playback singers, she was known for a career spanning over eight decades and more than 12,000 recorded songs in multiple languages.

Her legacy includes timeless classics such as “Dum Maro Dum,” “Piya Tu Ab Toh Aaja,” “Chura Liya Hai Tumne,” “Yeh Mera Dil,” and “Dil Cheez Kya Hai.” She was honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2000 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2008, cementing her place as one of India’s most influential musical icons.
