Mumbai: Actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut has put an end to ongoing speculation about her relationship with fellow politician Chirag Paswan, firmly stating that the two share nothing more than a long-standing friendship.
Rumours about the duo had been circulating on social media after they were recently spotted together at public events, sparking curiosity and online discussions about a possible romance. However, Kangana addressed the chatter directly in a recent interview with ANI, dismissing any such claims.
“No, no, Chirag is a friend. When I see him, I think of a friend. There’s no romance happening, let me be honest,” she said, adding that they have known each other for over a decade since working together in a film.
Referring to their past collaboration, she added with a touch of humour, “Agar romance hota toh aaj humare bacche hote,” making it clear that the speculation holds no truth.
The two first shared screen space in the 2011 romantic drama Miley Naa Miley Hum, directed by Tanveer Khan. The film marked the acting debut of Chirag Paswan, while Kangana played the female lead. It also featured Neeru Bajwa and Sagarika Ghatge in key roles.
Reflecting on their bond, Kangana said their equation has remained purely friendly over the years, describing it as a comfortable, familiar connection rather than anything romantic. “It’s just that friendly vibe… I feel very good around him,” she said.
Despite both now being active in politics and maintaining distinct public careers, their occasional appearances together continue to attract attention due to their shared film history.
On the professional front, Kangana was last seen in Emergency, a political drama that she also directed. In the film, she portrayed former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, marking one of her most ambitious directorial and acting ventures to date.
