Some locations become so closely connected with a movie that fans instantly remember the actors, songs and emotional moments whenever they see those places. Here are seven favourite Bollywood films that took their stories beyond India and gave audiences some truly beautiful travel goals.
1. Tamasha – Corsica, France

Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone’s Tamasha is one of those films where the location feels like another character in the story. A major portion of the movie was filmed in Corsica, France, where Ved and Tara first meet and experience their carefree holiday romance.
The stunning landscapes of Corsica gave the film a dreamy and adventurous feel. Places such as Calvi, Bastia and Bonifacio were among the locations used for the film. The Bastia area was also used for the popular song “Matargashti.”
The beautiful streets, sea views and dramatic landscapes perfectly matched the carefree mood of Ved and Tara’s first meeting. One of the most memorable moments is the quiet sunset sequence featuring Ranbir, which director Imtiaz Ali later revealed was not originally planned in the script.
Even years after its release, Tamasha continues to make viewers curious about Corsica.
2. Rockstar – Prague, Czech Republic
Ranbir Kapoor’s Rockstar took audiences to several striking locations, with Prague becoming one of the most memorable international backdrops.
The film was shot at several locations across Prague and the Czech Republic, including Charles Bridge, Vrtba Garden, Prague State Opera and other historic locations. The Czech Film Commission notes that the production spent 31 shooting days in the Czech Republic.
Prague’s old-world architecture and dramatic streets added to the emotional journey of Janardhan/Jordan. The city appears particularly beautiful during the film’s musical sequences, giving the story a European rock-star atmosphere.
But Rockstar was not shot only in Prague. A large part of the movie was also filmed in Kashmir and Delhi, with locations including Dal Lake, Pahalgam, Srinagar and several parts of Delhi.
That mix of Kashmir’s natural beauty, Delhi’s college atmosphere and Prague’s European charm helped give Rockstar its distinctive visual identity.
3. Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge – Switzerland and London
Few Bollywood films have created travel dreams quite like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.

Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol’s Raj and Simran travelled through some of the most beautiful parts of Switzerland and London, and those locations became permanently associated with the film.
The European portions were filmed in places including Saanen, Montbovon and Gstaad in Switzerland, while several London sequences were shot at locations such as Trafalgar Square and King’s Cross Station.
The Switzerland sequences remain especially memorable because of the songs and romantic moments between Raj and Simran. The film’s European journey made Switzerland a dream destination for an entire generation of Bollywood fans.
And of course, the famous romance was not limited to Europe. The iconic mustard-field sequence from “Tujhe Dekha Toh Yeh Jaana Sanam” was actually filmed near Gurgaon in India.
4. Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham – Egypt, London and Switzerland
Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham gave Bollywood fans a mixture of grand family drama and stunning international locations.
The film’s second half was largely set in London and was filmed at several recognisable locations, including St Paul’s Cathedral, the River Thames, Blenheim Palace and other parts of the UK.
But one location that immediately stands out is Egypt.
The unforgettable “Suraj Hua Maddham” sequence featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol was filmed against the Pyramids of Giza in Cairo. The massive historical backdrop, combined with the romantic chemistry between the two actors, made the song one of the most visually memorable sequences in the film.
The movie also used Switzerland for parts of its visual world, adding another layer of international glamour to the Karan Johar family drama.
5. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani – Paris, France
Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is practically a travel film for an entire generation.
Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Aditya Roy Kapur and Kalki Koechlin’s characters take audiences through a journey filled with friendship, love, dreams and travel.
Paris is one of the international locations featured in the film, adding a romantic European touch to Bunny and Naina’s story. The movie was also extensively filmed across India, including Manali, Udaipur, Gulmarg and other locations.
The combination of mountains, weddings and Parisian scenery helped make the film visually special. It also perfectly captured the feeling of young people wanting to travel, explore the world and create memories with their closest friends.
For many fans, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani was not just a movie—it became a reason to dream about travelling with friends.
6. Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara – Spain

If there is one Bollywood film that made Spain look like the ultimate road-trip destination, it has to be Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.
Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar and Abhay Deol’s characters travel across Spain during a bachelor road trip, with Katrina Kaif and Kalki Koechlin also playing important roles in the story.
The movie was filmed across several Spanish locations, including Barcelona, Costa Brava, Pamplona, Buñol and Andalusia.
Each location became connected to one of the film’s memorable adventures. The bull run was filmed in Pamplona, the scuba-diving sequence was shot around Costa Brava and the famous La Tomatina sequence was filmed in Buñol.
The film did more than showcase Spain’s beauty. It used the locations to tell the story of three friends confronting their fears and learning to enjoy life.
That is why ZNMD still feels like the perfect movie to watch when you are planning a trip with your best friends.
7. Queen – Paris, France
Kangana Ranaut’s Queen gave Paris a completely different Bollywood treatment.
Instead of presenting the city only as a glamorous romantic destination, the film follows Rani as she travels alone after her wedding is called off. Paris becomes an important part of her journey of self-discovery.
The film was shot in Paris before moving to Amsterdam and Delhi. The production used a relatively small crew and filmed across a large number of locations, giving the movie a natural, realistic feel.
Rani’s journey through Paris allows the audience to see the city through the eyes of someone experiencing international travel for the first time. The movie turns the destination into more than just a beautiful backdrop—it becomes part of Rani’s transformation.
Bollywood Movies That Became Our Travel Inspiration
These seven movies prove that Bollywood locations can stay with us long after the credits roll.

Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham gave us the grandeur of Egypt and London. These places were not simply shooting locations. They became part of the emotions, songs and memories that made these films special.
And that is perhaps the magic of Bollywood—sometimes a movie does not just make you fall in love with its characters. It also makes you want to pack your bags and visit the place where their story came alive.
