Lakmé Fashion Week X FDCI Day 3: Indriya and Amit Aggarwal’s ‘Orizon’ Celebrates Heritage Through Modern Light
Day 3 of Lakmé Fashion Week X FDCI witnessed a stunning showcase as Indriya, in collaboration with designer Amit Aggarwal, unveiled their latest collection, Orizon, on March 21. The presentation beautifully merged India’s rich cultural heritage with contemporary design, creating a powerful narrative of transformation, identity, and modern expression.
A Celebration of Heritage and Innovation
At its core, Orizon paid homage to India’s traditional craftsmanship through the use of Polki and diamonds, reimagined for the modern Indian woman. The collection was designed not to confine tradition but to empower—encouraging women to embrace their roots while confidently moving forward.
Amit Aggarwal’s signature aesthetic—featuring handloom fabrics, vintage Banarasi textiles, and contemporary mirrorwork—perfectly complemented Indriya’s intricate jewellery. Together, they created a seamless dialogue between heritage and innovation, where tradition evolved into a modern design language.
A Narrative of Transformation
The concept behind Orizon revolved around light as a metaphor for change. The runway unfolded like a story—beginning in shadow and introspection, gradually transitioning into radiance and bold self-expression.
The showcase started with minimal diamond pieces symbolizing the first hints of light, before evolving into statement Polki and gold creations that redefined traditional forms through contemporary geometry. This progression mirrored a journey from quiet reflection to confident individuality.
Craftsmanship at Its Finest
A defining highlight of the collection was Indriya’s reinterpretation of Polki jewellery. Master artisans introduced innovative techniques such as the samosa dart setting, which enhances light reflection and gives each piece a luminous, ethereal glow.
The collection also featured a vibrant palette of gemstones, including:
- Tourmalines
- Tanzanites
- Sapphires
- Rubies
- South Sea pearls
These were paired with delicate Polki elements, creating depth, intimacy, and a striking interplay of colour and light. Techniques like wall-prong and corner-bezel settings minimized visible metal, giving the jewellery a floating, weightless elegance.
Fashion Meets Emotion
Parallel to the jewellery narrative, Amit Aggarwal’s garments told their own story of evolution. Beginning with structured, shadowed silhouettes symbolizing introspection, the designs gradually incorporated jewel tones, reflective surfaces, and reinterpreted heritage textiles.
The collection culminated in soft metallics and luminous hues, evoking a contemporary bridal aesthetic where strength and softness coexist.
Speaking about the showcase, Amit Aggarwal said, “Bringing Orizon to life was about capturing a moment of transformation. The collaboration allowed us to create a seamless dialogue between garment and jewellery, shaping a unified narrative of evolution.”
Showstopper Moment
Actor Disha Patani took centre stage as the showstopper, adorned in Indriya’s striking jewellery paired with Amit Aggarwal’s sculptural couture. Her presence embodied the essence of Orizon—a radiant blend of tradition and modernity.
A New Expression of Indian Craft
The Orizon showcase ultimately stood as a testament to the evolving language of Indian craftsmanship. By blending legacy techniques with contemporary design, Indriya and Amit Aggarwal created a collection that felt immersive, intentional, and deeply resonant.
More than just a fashion presentation, Orizon was a visual and emotional journey—one that redefined how heritage can inspire modern identity, proving that tradition is not a limitation, but a powerful foundation for innovation.
