Actor Allu Arjun has once again found himself at the centre of legal proceedings related to the tragic stampede that occurred during a special screening of Pushpa 2: The Rule at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad in December 2024. The Nampally Court has now issued a summons directing the actor to appear in person on June 22 as part of the ongoing case.

According to reports, Allu Arjun’s legal team has confirmed that the court has asked the actor to be present for the hearing. While further details about the proceedings are yet to be disclosed, the summons marks another significant development in a case that has drawn widespread attention over the past year.

The incident took place on December 4, 2024, during a special screening of Pushpa 2. A massive crowd had gathered at Sandhya Theatre after learning that Allu Arjun would be attending the event along with members of the film’s team and his family. As fans rushed forward to catch a glimpse of the star, chaos broke out, leading to a stampede.

The tragedy claimed the life of 35-year-old Revathi, while her young son Sritej suffered serious injuries and had to be hospitalised. The heartbreaking incident sparked outrage and led to legal action against several individuals connected to the event.

Following an investigation, police named Allu Arjun as one of the accused in the case. He was arrested on December 13, 2024, before being granted interim bail the very next day. The chargesheet filed later named the actor as Accused No. 11. Theatre management officials, security personnel and several others were also included among the accused.

Since the incident, the victim’s family has received financial assistance from multiple quarters. Allu Arjun’s father, producer Allu Aravind, initially announced financial support to help the family and cover medical expenses for Sritej. Members of the Pushpa 2 team and the Telangana government also extended assistance.

However, the matter returned to public discussion earlier this year when Sritej’s father alleged that communication from the actor’s side had slowed down. The claims led to criticism on social media and renewed scrutiny of the case.

In response, Allu Arjun’s team clarified that substantial financial support had already been provided to the family. They stated that the actor had contributed ₹3.20 crore, including ₹1.5 crore placed in a fixed deposit in Sritej’s name for his future. The family was also reportedly assured of continued support by Allu Aravind during a meeting earlier this year.

As the legal proceedings continue, the upcoming court appearance is expected to be closely watched. The case remains one of the most talked-about incidents linked to a film event in recent years, raising important questions about crowd management, event safety and accountability during large public gatherings involving major stars.
