Despite the swift rescue efforts, at least 21 people lost their lives in the tragedy. Officials indicated that many of the victims were believed to be foreign nationals, although complete identification was still underway.
Ten fire tenders were deployed to contain the blaze, and after hours of firefighting, authorities managed to bring the fire under control. However, search operations continued throughout the day as rescue teams carefully inspected the premises to ensure no one remained trapped inside.
