The Delhi High Court has directed the removal of promotional content related to the upcoming film Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy, following a plea filed by actor Salman Khan. The teaser of the proposed film was allegedly inspired by the actor’s widely discussed 1998 blackbuck poaching case.
Justice Jyoti Singh ordered the removal of various online links featuring the film’s teaser and indicated that interviews given by the film’s producer Amit Jani would also be taken down. The court’s order came after Salman Khan raised objections over the promotional material, claiming that it made direct references to him and his personal identity.
According to Salman’s legal team, the actor argued that the teaser contained elements that could lead viewers to associate the film with him. One of the major points raised was the portrayal of a character resembling Salman Khan, including the use of a bracelet similar to the actor’s iconic blue bracelet, which has become closely associated with his public image.
Salman’s lawyer, advocate Parag Khandhar, stated that the court had directed the producer to remove the teaser and related interviews within 24 hours. If the content was not removed within the given period, social media platforms such as YouTube would be required to take down the links.
The case has once again brought attention to Salman Khan’s long-running legal battle connected to the 1998 blackbuck poaching case, which has remained one of the most talked-about controversies surrounding the actor. The incident dates back to the shooting of the film Hum Saath-Saath Hain in Rajasthan, when allegations were made against Salman and others for hunting blackbucks, a protected species.
While Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy has generated curiosity due to its subject matter, the makers’ alleged references to Salman Khan became a point of legal dispute. The court’s decision highlights concerns around the use of a public figure’s identity, likeness, and personal controversies for film promotion.
As of now, the filmmakers’ side and producer Amit Jani have not issued a detailed public response regarding the court’s order. The matter continues to draw attention as it raises questions about creative freedom, public figures’ privacy rights, and the boundaries of storytelling inspired by real-life events.
