Punjab Kings cricketer Shashank Singh, along with his father Shailesh Singh, a retired IPS officer, and their driver, has been booked by the Bhopal Police following serious allegations of assault, verbal abuse, and illegal confinement of a domestic cook.

The case came to light after a First Information Report (FIR) was registered on Monday at the Ratibad Police Station in Bhopal. The complaint was filed by 31-year-old Vipendra Singh Tomar, who alleged that he was recently employed as a cook at the residence and was subjected to harassment and mistreatment shortly after joining.

According to the complaint, the victim alleged that he was physically assaulted and verbally abused by the accused. He further claimed that he was not allowed to leave the premises and was confined against his will for a period of time. The complainant stated that the incident left him distressed and fearing for his safety, prompting him to approach the police.

Following the complaint, police officials registered a case against Shashank Singh, his father Shailesh Singh, and the driver under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code related to assault, criminal intimidation, and wrongful confinement. Authorities have confirmed that an investigation has been initiated and statements from all parties will be recorded as part of the inquiry.

Police sources indicated that the complainant’s allegations are being verified, and evidence from the scene and witnesses will be examined to establish the sequence of events. Officials also noted that no arrests have been made so far, and the investigation is still in its early stages.

The allegations have gained attention due to Shashank Singh’s association with the Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League and the involvement of his father, a retired senior police officer. However, law enforcement has maintained that the case will be treated strictly on merit, regardless of the individuals involved.

As of now, neither Shashank Singh nor his family members have issued a public statement addressing the allegations. The cricketer, known for his performances in domestic cricket and the IPL, has not commented on the matter on social media either.

The incident has sparked discussion online, with many awaiting further clarification as the police investigation progresses. Officials have stated that further action will depend on the findings of the ongoing inquiry and the evidence collected during the investigation.
