Television actress Akanksha Chamola has finally opened up about the reason behind her separation from actor Gaurav Khanna. After shocking everyone by announcing on the premiere of Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa that the couple is heading for a divorce, Akanksha has now shared the deeply personal reason behind their decision.

Speaking candidly with fellow contestants Shreya Kalra and Sufi Motiwala in the third episode of the reality show, Akanksha revealed that their differing views on having children eventually became the biggest reason for the end of their marriage.

Opening up about the difficult decision, Akanksha said that she never truly felt a maternal instinct, even after getting married. While she initially believed those feelings might develop with time, she gradually realised that motherhood was not something she wanted for herself.

She shared that she had been honest with Gaurav about her feelings from the very beginning.

“After our marriage, I never really had a maternal instinct. I was open to discovering it, but over time I realised that I am simply not meant for it. I told him this long ago when I became sure about my decision,” she said.

According to Akanksha, Gaurav initially accepted her choice, but as time passed, his feelings changed.

She revealed that Gaurav now wants to become a father, something she knows she cannot give him.

“He wants to have kids, and I can’t give him that. I don’t have that instinct, and I had made it clear long ago. When I realised motherhood wasn’t for me, I honestly told him I wasn’t going to have children,” she explained.

Akanksha also admitted that she never wanted Gaurav to sacrifice one of his biggest dreams because of her.

She recalled having an honest conversation with him, during which she even told him that if becoming a father was important to him, he was free to leave the marriage.

“I told him that if he wants to leave me because of this, that’s completely fair. Most people get married because they want children and want to build a family. He’s not wrong for wanting that,” she said.

The actress further shared that watching Gaurav during his time on Bigg Boss made her realise just how deeply he desired to become a father.

“When he was on Bigg Boss, I realised how much he truly wanted children, and I knew I couldn’t give him that. I don’t want him to live with that disappointment because of me,” she added.

Akanksha also clarified that she does not wish to adopt a child either. She said she has consciously chosen a child-free life and wants to remain true to herself rather than become a parent under societal pressure.

Her emotional confession has sparked conversations online about personal choices, marriage, and the importance of compatibility in long-term relationships. Many viewers appreciated her honesty, saying it takes courage to openly discuss such a sensitive topic.

Interestingly, Gaurav Khanna had previously spoken about the same issue during his stint on Bigg Boss. During a media interaction in the finale week, he became emotional after being accused of using his personal life to gain sympathy.

Responding to the criticism, Gaurav had defended his wife, saying that while he had always dreamed of becoming a father, he respected Akanksha’s decision not to have children. He explained that loving someone also means accepting their choices, even if it requires sacrificing your own dreams.

He had said that the issue was deeply personal and that he would always stand by whatever decision his wife made.

Akanksha Chamola and Gaurav Khanna got married in November 2016 after dating for several years. The couple reportedly first met during an audition and soon fell in love. They tied the knot in a grand three-day wedding ceremony in Kanpur, surrounded by family and close friends.

Over the years, they were often regarded as one of television’s most loved couples. However, Akanksha’s revelation has made it clear that despite the love and mutual respect they shared, their different life goals eventually led them to make the difficult decision to part ways.

As of now, Gaurav Khanna has not publicly reacted to Akanksha’s latest statements. The actor is currently participating in Khatron Ke Khiladi 15, while Akanksha continues to share her journey on Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa.

Their story has resonated with many viewers, highlighting that sometimes relationships end not because of a lack of love, but because two people want different things from life.
