Marathi cinema’s beloved couple Adinath Kothare and Urmila Kanetkar have announced that they have decided to end their marriage after nearly 15 years together. The actors shared a joint statement on social media on July 16, confirming that they have mutually and amicably chosen to part ways.
The couple, who have been admired by fans for their bond and contribution to Marathi entertainment, requested privacy and respect from their fans and the media as they begin this new phase of their lives.
‘Our Commitment to Our Daughter Remains Absolute’
In their official statement, Adinath and Urmila clarified that while their journey as husband and wife has come to an end, their responsibility as parents will always remain their top priority.
The statement read, “After much thought and consideration, Urmilla Kanetkar and I, Addinath M. Kothare, have mutually and amicably decided to part ways as partners. While our journey as a couple has ended, our commitment to our daughter, Jizah, remains absolute.”
The couple further shared that they will continue to co-parent their daughter with love, care, and understanding.
“She is our utmost priority. We are happily and dedicatedly co-parenting her to ensure she grows up surrounded by love, security, and support,” they added.

Adinath Kothare and Urmila Kanetkar’s relationship began on the sets of the Marathi film ** Shubh Mangal Saavdhan ** in 2006. The film, directed by Adinath’s father Mahesh Kothare, also marked Urmila’s acting debut.
After years of dating, the couple got married in 2011. They welcomed their daughter Jizah in 2018, and often shared glimpses of their family moments with fans.
