Television actress Aditi Sharma, known for her roles in Apollena – Sapno Ki Unchi Udaan, Rabb Se Hai Dua and Kaleerein, has filed a domestic violence complaint against her husband Abhineet Vidyanand Kaushik and his family members. Following her complaint, Mumbai Police registered an FIR on July 31, 2026, and an investigation is currently underway.
According to reports, Aditi has accused her husband, mother-in-law Urmila Kaushik, and sister-in-law Kirti Kaushik of physical and mental harassment, domestic violence, verbal abuse, assault, and character assassination.
Serious Allegations in the FIR
As per the FIR, Aditi has alleged that after her marriage, she was subjected to continuous emotional and physical abuse. She claimed that disagreements over everyday matters gradually turned into serious conflicts, leaving her mentally distressed.
The FIR reportedly includes charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) related to cruelty by a husband or his relatives, criminal breach of trust, and intentional insult.
One of the key allegations is that her mother-in-law retained her wedding jewellery—including gold chains, rings, a diamond ring, mangalsutra and bangles—and allegedly refused to return them despite repeated requests.
How Their Relationship Began
According to Aditi’s statement to the police, she first met Abhineet in June 2021 while attending an online acting course. Their friendship eventually turned into a relationship.
The couple reportedly moved into a rented apartment in Mumbai’s Goregaon area in September 2024 and got married on November 12, 2024, with the consent of both families.
Claims of Abuse After Marriage
In her complaint, Aditi alleged that her husband’s behaviour changed soon after the wedding. She claimed that frequent arguments began over minor issues, including her choice of clothing and household matters.
She further alleged that instead of contributing equally to household expenses, her husband often demanded money from her.
According to the complaint, matters worsened on January 1, 2025, when an argument over coffee allegedly turned violent. Aditi also claimed that her husband repeatedly questioned her character, accused her of infidelity, checked her mobile phone frequently, and eventually stopped sharing the same room with her.
She further alleged that during disputes, her husband would involve his mother and sister, who, instead of resolving the issues, allegedly taunted her and added to her emotional distress.
Previous Public Dispute
The couple had previously made headlines earlier this year when Abhineet publicly accused Aditi of having an extramarital affair with her Apollena co-star Samarthya Gupta. He had also alleged that she demanded ₹25 lakh as a divorce settlement and claimed she denied the validity of their marriage.
Aditi had not publicly responded to those allegations at the time.
Investigation Underway
The case is currently being investigated by Assistant Inspector Amita Marathe of the Goregaon Police Station. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the accused have not issued any public statement regarding Aditi’s allegations.
With the investigation still in its early stages, authorities are expected to examine the evidence and statements from both sides before taking further legal action. The allegations remain under investigation, and no court has yet ruled on the claims made in the FIR.
