Abhishek Bachchan Says He Won’t Ask Daughter Aaradhya Bachchan to Review His Films: “Not Strong Enough to Hear What She Has to Say”
Actor Abhishek Bachchan has opened up about his approach to balancing his professional life with fatherhood, revealing that he prefers not to seek film reviews from his daughter, Aaradhya Bachchan. The actor shared that he consciously avoids involving her in discussions about his work, even informally, to maintain a clear boundary between family and profession.
“I Will Never Ask Her”
In a recent interview with IFP, Abhishek was asked whether Aaradhya watches his films or shares her opinions on them. He responded candidly, saying he has never asked her for feedback and does not intend to.
“I will let that thought remain in my head. Once she answers—whether she likes it or not—it’s going to change the way I approach my work,” he said.
The actor further admitted that he may not be emotionally prepared for honest feedback from his daughter.
“Out of duty, I don’t ask her because maybe I’m not strong enough to hear what she has to say. I would rather live in the illusion of what she might want or not want,” he added.
Parenting, Honesty, and Generational Gap
Abhishek also reflected on how today’s younger generation communicates differently, noting that children are often more direct and honest in expressing opinions.
“Children today are very confident and know exactly what they want. They’re very good at communicating it. For people of my generation, it can sometimes be difficult to just listen,” he said.
He acknowledged that while honesty is important, it can sometimes be difficult for parents to process unfiltered opinions from their children.
“As a parent, I want to do the work I believe in without being influenced by her opinion right now. Maybe that will change with time,” he added.
A Future Possibility
The actor did, however, leave room for change in the future, suggesting that his perspective may evolve as his daughter grows older.
“God willing, if I’m around when she has her own children, I might ask her then. But as of now, I don’t want to be influenced by what she thinks,” he said with a smile.
He also added that while he does not actively seek her feedback, he is sure she will express her views eventually.
On the Work Front
On the professional side, Abhishek Bachchan will next be seen in the upcoming film Raja Shivaji, directed by Riteish Deshmukh. The film features an ensemble cast including Vidya Balan, Genelia Deshmukh, Fardeen Khan, and Bhagyashree. The project is scheduled for release on May 1.
A Glimpse Into a Private Parenting Choice
Abhishek Bachchan’s remarks highlight a thoughtful parenting approach—one that prioritizes emotional boundaries while allowing space for honesty in the future. For now, the actor appears content keeping his daughter’s perspective outside his professional judgment loop, focusing instead on his own creative instincts.
