The death of Twisha Sharma continues to trigger nationwide debate as fresh details and a controversial audio recording have brought renewed focus on the emotional environment inside her matrimonial home. The case, which had already drawn attention because of allegations made by both families, has now become even more sensitive after the emergence of a disturbing conversation allegedly involving retired judge Giri Bala Singh and Twisha’s brother, Major Harshit Sharma.
The audio clip, whose authenticity has not been independently verified, reportedly captures an emotionally charged exchange over the treatment Twisha allegedly faced after marriage. According to claims made by her family, the former beauty queen and aspiring actor was repeatedly questioned about her past relationships, personal life and character, leading to severe mental stress in the months before her death.
Twisha was found hanging in her matrimonial home in Bhopal on May 12, just months after marrying advocate Samarth Singh. Her sudden death shocked many, especially as her family soon alleged that she had been mentally harassed and emotionally isolated after marriage.
The newly surfaced audio appears to strengthen those allegations. In the conversation, Giri Bala Singh is allegedly heard defending the personal and intimate questions posed to Twisha. She reportedly argues that asking about a daughter-in-law’s past relationships and loyalty after marriage was justified, even suggesting that “promiscuity can be a habit.”

One of the most controversial sections of the audio allegedly involves comparisons between Twisha’s past and women involved in prostitution. During the exchange, the retired judge reportedly mentions working in areas where she had interacted with prostitutes and then allegedly questions whether Twisha had ever entered relationships for “monetary benefit” or social advancement.
The remarks have triggered outrage online, with many social media users calling the conversation deeply insensitive and humiliating. Critics argue that the language used in the alleged recording reflects moral policing and character shaming that could have had a devastating psychological impact on Twisha.
The tape also contains references to allegations that Samarth Singh allegedly used abusive language toward his wife during arguments. According to the discussion, Twisha had reportedly complained about being insulted and emotionally hurt inside the household.
At one point, Major Harshit Sharma is heard strongly objecting to the questioning of his sister and asks how such accusations could be directed at a daughter-in-law by a family elder. He repeatedly describes the behaviour as humiliating and mentally damaging.
However, Giri Bala Singh allegedly responds that she believed she had the “right” to ask such questions and insisted that certain behaviour after marriage would not be accepted in the family.
The case has now evolved into a bitter and public conflict between the two families. Twisha’s father, Navnidhi Sharma, has repeatedly accused the in-laws of conducting a “character assassination” campaign against his daughter after her death. According to the family, Twisha briefly returned to her parental home at one stage because of stress in the marriage but later went back in hopes of resolving the issues.
Meanwhile, the in-laws have rejected allegations of harassment and earlier claimed that Twisha suffered from emotional instability and other personal struggles. Giri Bala Singh had previously alleged that Twisha had behavioural issues and mental health concerns, claims firmly denied by her family.
The viral audio has now become one of the most talked-about aspects of the investigation. Many believe the conversation reflects the emotional pressure and constant scrutiny Twisha may have been facing within her marriage. Women’s rights activists and social media users have also pointed to the case as an example of how emotional abuse and repeated attacks on a woman’s character can deeply affect mental well-being.
As public attention around the case continues to grow, authorities are conducting an SIT investigation into the circumstances surrounding Twisha Sharma’s death. Investigators are expected to examine the audio clip, family statements, phone records and other evidence as part of the probe.
The case has sparked wider conversations around toxic family dynamics, emotional abuse within marriages and the social stigma women often face when judged for their personal lives. While the investigation is still ongoing, the disturbing allegations and the emotional nature of the audio recording have left many demanding accountability and a fair investigation into what truly happened in Twisha Sharma’s final days.
