British National Working with BCCI for IPL Found Dead at Mumbai Hotel

Mumbai police are investigating the sudden death of a British national, Ian Williams Langford, who was found dead in his room at the Trident Hotel. Ian, 76, had been in Mumbai since March 24 in connection with BCCI duties as a broadcast engineer for the ongoing IPL matches.

According to hotel officials, Ian returned to his room on March 29 after the day’s IPL match. The following day, March 30, when the receptionist tried to reach him, there was no response. Hotel staff then used a master key to enter the room and found Ian lying on the floor. The in-house doctor was immediately called and declared him dead.

Authorities have registered an accidental death report at Marine Drive Police Station. A preliminary investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of death, though no foul play has been reported so far.

Ian’s passing has cast a somber mood over the IPL operations in Mumbai, where he was a well-regarded professional contributing to the broadcast coverage of one of cricket’s biggest events. The BCCI has not yet released an official statement regarding the incident.

Hotel staff and police are cooperating to ensure a thorough inquiry, while colleagues and cricket fans remember Ian’s work in facilitating seamless match coverage during the IPL season.
