Non-Hindi Dhurandhar 2 Shows Cancelled in Chennai; Hindi Version to Screen Amid Refunds
Fans in Tamil Nadu hoping to catch the dubbed version of Dhurandhar 2 during its paid previews faced disappointment on Wednesday, as several cinema chains cancelled non-Hindi screenings due to “non-availability” of content. The Ranveer Singh-starrer, directed by Aditya Dhar, is officially hitting theatres today, March 18, but audiences in the south will have to watch the original Hindi version instead.
Why the Tamil Shows Were Cancelled
Reports suggest that while cinemas received the first half of the Tamil-dubbed version, the second half had not arrived, leaving theatres in a Catch-22 situation. As a result, chains initiated refunds and scheduled Hindi screenings with English subtitles in place of the regional versions.
Broadway Cinemas, which operates in Coimbatore and Tiruppur, stated: “Dhurandhar: The Revenge – Tamil paid previews scheduled for this evening have been cancelled due to non-availability. Hindi paid previews will be scheduled instead. Refunds are being processed. We apologise for the inconvenience.”
Ritzy Cinemas, with theatres in Madurai, Tirumangalam, and Virudhunagar, confirmed in a social media post: “Tamil premiere cancelled!! Hindi content will be screened along with English subtitles. Refunds will be provided to those who wish to cancel.”
Ruban Mathivanan, managing director of Chennai’s GK Cinemas, added: “Just received confirmation that the Tamil version of #Dhurandhar2 will not premiere today. Those who booked can either switch to the Hindi version or opt for refunds.”
Vishnu Kamal, director of Kamala Cinemas in Chennai, pointed out that the Tamil version was never delivered by the makers. ASG Cinemas, which runs theatres in Chennai and Cuddalore, also apologised to patrons for the inconvenience. Reports indicate that the Telugu-dubbed version may face similar delays.

Dhurandhar 2, officially titled Dhurandhar: The Revenge, stars Ranveer Singh, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, Danish Pandor, Gaurav Gera, and Rakesh Bedi in pivotal roles. The action-packed thriller is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on March 19, 2026.

Several fans expressed disappointment on social media over the Tamil cancellations, highlighting the demand for regional screenings in Chennai and other Tamil Nadu cities. Theatres’ quick pivot to Hindi screenings with subtitles, along with refunds, ensured that audiences could still watch the film without long delays.
