Swara Bhasker has opened up about a deeply personal chapter of her life, revealing that there was a time when she believed marriage might never happen for her. However, one thing she was always certain about was that she wanted to become a mother.
The actress made the revelation while appearing on Rise And Fall Season 2, where she spoke candidly about her plans for motherhood, her parents’ reaction and her experience with IVF.
Swara recalled that she had reached a point where she had accepted the possibility that she might not get married. Instead, she was prepared to become a mother on her own and had even discussed the idea of IVF with her parents.
“I was okay to do IVF, I had convinced my parents, ‘Meri shaadi toh hone se rahi, main IVF se bacha karungi,’” Swara said.
Swara’s Parents Initially Needed Time to Understand Her Decision
Swara revealed that her parents were initially surprised when she told them about her plans. However, they eventually accepted her decision and stood by her.
She recalled how her parents first reacted with surprise before having a serious conversation with her about the realities of raising a child as a single mother in India.
“First they were like, ‘Hain?’ And then bechare mere parents yaar, bade sweet log hain. They were like, ‘Okay,’ but of course talked to me and said, ‘Listen, it will be very challenging in a country like India. But it’s okay if that’s what you want,’” she recalled.
The conversation, according to Swara, showed that although her parents were concerned about the difficulties she could face, they were ultimately ready to support her choice.
Swara Reveals She Underwent Two Rounds of IVF
Swara also shared that her plans were not merely a thought. She actually went through two rounds of IVF using an anonymous donor.
However, neither attempt was successful.
“You know, I did two rounds of IVF, anonymous donor, and hua nahi,” she revealed.
The actress’ revelation offers a glimpse into a very private part of her life that she had not spoken about in such detail earlier. Her experience also highlights how strongly she wanted to become a mother, even at a time when she believed marriage might not be part of her future.
Then She Met Fahad Ahmad
Swara’s life eventually took a completely different turn when she met Fahad Ahmad in January 2020.
The two met at a protest in New Delhi against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). What started at the protest soon developed into a relationship, and Swara has previously spoken about how quickly things progressed between them.
Recalling their early relationship, she said, “We hooked up like immediately… it was insane.”
Their relationship eventually led to marriage. Swara revealed that they opted for a court wedding, describing how several happy developments happened around the same time.
“We got married in a court, we had a court wedding. Like basically 2-3 khushkhabri humein saath mein mil gayi,” she said.
From Thinking Marriage Would Never Happen to Becoming a Mother
Swara’s story took a turn she perhaps did not expect when she had initially discussed IVF with her parents. She once believed that marriage might not happen for her, but she was determined to embrace motherhood regardless.
She eventually found a partner in Fahad Ahmad, and the couple went on to build a family together.
Swara’s candid revelation on Rise And Fall Season 2 gives fans a much more personal look at the journey that brought her from accepting the possibility of single motherhood to marriage and motherhood.
Her story is ultimately one of an unexpected change in plans — a reminder that life does not always follow the path we imagine for ourselves.
