Actor Bobby Deol recently opened up about one of the most difficult phases of his career, admitting that there was a time when he genuinely felt forgotten by the younger generation. The actor revealed that accepting Race 3 alongside Salman Khan became a turning point that helped him reconnect with audiences and restart his journey in the industry.
Speaking candidly during an appearance on Shekhar Tonite hosted by Shekhar Suman, Bobby recalled how Salman reached out to him after several years and offered him the action thriller.
Remembering the conversation, Bobby shared, “Salman was so sweet. After many years he called me and asked, ‘Shirt utarega maamu?’ I immediately replied, ‘Main kuch bhi karunga.’ Then he asked me to come and listen to the story, and that is how I got Race 3.”
The actor admitted that at that point in his career, he felt disconnected from the new generation of moviegoers. Bobby emotionally revealed that many young audiences had almost forgotten him, and he believed appearing in a Salman Khan film would remind people that Bobby Deol still existed in Bollywood.
“Millions of people go to watch a Salman Khan film. The younger generation had forgotten Bobby Deol. I felt if I became part of this film, people would recognise me again,” Bobby said during the conversation.
Released in 2018, Race 3 featured a star-studded cast including Anil Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez, Daisy Shah and Saqib Saleem alongside Salman and Bobby. While the film received mixed reactions, it played a major role in bringing Bobby back into mainstream conversations.
Soon after, Bobby experienced a massive career revival with Aashram, directed by Prakash Jha. His performance in the web series earned praise from audiences and critics alike, proving that the actor still had a powerful screen presence.
However, the biggest shift in Bobby’s career came with Animal directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Despite having limited screen time, Bobby’s intense antagonist role left a massive impact and turned him into one of the most talked-about actors after the film’s release.
Following the success of Animal, Bobby Deol’s popularity reached new heights. The actor went on to feature in projects like The Ba***ds of Bollywood and successful films including Hari Hara Veera Mallu. He is now preparing for his upcoming collaboration with Anurag Kashyap in the film Bandar.
Bobby Deol’s emotional confession has now touched fans online, with many praising Salman Khan for supporting him during a difficult phase and appreciating Bobby’s honesty about feeling forgotten. For fans, Bobby’s journey is now being seen as one of Bollywood’s most inspiring comeback stories a reminder that sometimes one opportunity, one phone call, and one person’s belief can completely change someone’s career.
