New Delhi: Amid the massive success of Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, R. Madhavan is once again in the spotlight—not just for his on-screen performance, but for a thoughtful piece of advice he once shared with his son, Vedaant Madhavan, about handling fame and responsibility.
An old interview of the actor has resurfaced online, offering a glimpse into his perspective as both a public figure and a father. Speaking candidly, Madhavan emphasized the weight that comes with recognition and visibility, especially for someone growing up in the public eye.
“You can’t be seen with your shirt off and sleeping in any bed because one photograph of you in that kind of pose is national news,” he had said. Highlighting the difference between ordinary life and life under constant scrutiny, he added, “You can’t afford to be as carefree as your friends. You bear the responsibility of being recognised and being a role model.”
His son, Vedaant, has carved a name for himself in the world of swimming, earning several national and international accolades. From clinching five gold medals at the Malaysian Invitational Age Group Championships 2023 to securing podium finishes at the Danish Open and the Junior National Aquatic Championships, the young athlete continues to make his mark.
Madhavan also spoke about the pride he feels as a parent. “It feels really proud when the common man comes up and says, ‘We like your work, but we are so proud of you because of Vedaant,’” he shared. At the same time, he acknowledged the realities of privilege, telling his son that his life—“unfortunately or fortunately”—would always be influenced by his father’s fame.
On the professional front, Madhavan is currently receiving widespread praise for his role as Ajay Sanyal, Director of the Intelligence Bureau, in Dhurandhar 2. The film, directed by Aditya Dhar, features a star-studded cast led by Ranveer Singh, alongside Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, and others.
As the film continues to perform strongly across multiple languages, Madhavan’s words serve as a reminder that behind the glamour of fame lies a constant awareness of responsibility—something he is ensuring his son understands early on.
