Back in 2007, Taare Zameen Par touched millions of hearts with its emotional story and powerful performances. While most people remember Darsheel Safary as Ishaan Awasthi, audiences also loved his caring elder brother Yohaan, played by Sachet Engineer.

Nearly two decades later, Sachet’s life has taken a very different path from the world of Bollywood.

In the film, Yohaan was portrayed as the perfect student academically brilliant, disciplined and talented in sports. Interestingly, Sachet’s real-life journey turned out to be just as impressive.

Instead of pursuing a career in films, the former child actor chose education and built a successful career in dentistry. Sachet completed his studies at DY Patil University, where he earned a gold medal in Periodontology. He later moved to the United Kingdom and pursued higher studies at the prestigious University College London (UCL) Eastman Dental Institute.

Today, Sachet is a qualified dental professional and has successfully cleared the Overseas Registration Examination (ORE), allowing him to practise dentistry in the UK. He is also a member of the European Federation of Periodontology, further strengthening his credentials in the field.

But dentistry isn’t his only passion.

The former actor has also developed a love for aviation. In recent years, Sachet revealed that he has been training as a pilot. Sharing a picture from an aircraft cockpit, he described his first flying experience as a reminder that “the horizon is endless and so are possibilities.”

For fans who grew up watching him on screen, the transformation from child actor to dentist and aspiring pilot is remarkable.

Interestingly, acting entered Sachet’s life almost by accident. Coming from a film family, he was familiar with the entertainment industry from a young age. His grandmother, Krishna Kumari Seth, was an actress, while his grandfather, Suraj Prakash, was a film producer.

However, Sachet never actively planned to become an actor. In an earlier interview, he revealed that the makers of Taare Zameen Par were actually auditioning his younger brother when they casually asked him to audition as well. The opportunity eventually landed him the role of Yohaan, making him a familiar face across the country.

Following the film’s success, Sachet received several acting offers and even appeared in a few advertisements. Yet he consciously decided to focus on academics rather than continue in the entertainment industry.

While he once admitted that he would be open to returning to acting after completing his education, his career has since taken him in a completely different direction.

Today, Sachet Engineer stands as a perfect example that success can be found beyond the glamour of showbiz. From winning hearts as Yohaan in Taare Zameen Par to earning a gold medal in dentistry and pursuing aviation, his journey proves that childhood fame does not have to define a person’s future.

For many fans, he will always be remembered as Ishaan’s supportive elder brother. But in real life, Sachet Engineer has written an inspiring success story of his own.
