Salman Khan and Karisma Kapoor have reunited on the couch of Koffee With Karan 9, bringing back memories of their popular on-screen pairing and sharing some interesting stories from their time working together. The ninth and final season of Karan Johar’s celebrity chat show opened with Salman as its first guest, while Karisma’s appearance added a nostalgic touch for fans of their hit films.

During the conversation, Karisma recalled how she and Salman often argued on the sets of their 2000 romantic comedy Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge. One incident, in particular, stood out: Salman reportedly refused to shoot a scene with her because he was unhappy with the outfit she was wearing.

Karisma Kapoor Recalls Salman Khan’s Reaction to Her Outfit

Karisma revealed that she was excited about her fashion choices while shooting Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge. However, Salman apparently did not share her enthusiasm about one particular outfit.

Recalling the incident on Koffee With Karan, Karisma said, “During Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge, the iconic outfit, I was very excited about my fashion, and I thought I was going to kill it, and he’s like, ‘What are you wearing? I will not give a shot with you looking like this.’”

The actress said Salman’s reaction surprised her, especially because she had been looking forward to wearing the outfit. The disagreement became serious enough that Karisma decided to take the matter to the film’s director, David Dhawan.

According to Karisma, she complained to the filmmaker that Salman was not allowing her to wear the outfit she had chosen. The anecdote offered a glimpse into the playful disagreements that sometimes took place between the co-stars while filming together.

Salman Khan Explains Why He Disapproved of the Outfit

Karan Johar asked Karisma whether Salman had objected because he felt the outfit was too revealing. Karisma agreed, explaining that the clothes were “too open and too clingy.”

Salman, however, offered his own version of the story. He denied Karisma’s description of the situation and explained that he had been concerned about the outfit being too short and sheer.

“I used to keep on asking her to get it down before every take. It was all sheer,” Salman recalled.

His comments prompted Karisma to explain that the actor had often asked her to change her clothes during the shoot. She said, “He would say, ‘Go and change it, I don’t like this outfit.’ So we used to fight a lot.”

The exchange made for an entertaining moment on the show, with both stars remembering the incident from their own perspectives. What might have been a frustrating disagreement at the time has now become a funny memory from their years of working together.

Karisma Says Salman Was Protective of Her

Beyond the arguments, Karisma described Salman as protective towards her. Her recollection suggested that their disagreements were part of the dynamic they shared while working together.

The pair became one of Bollywood’s familiar on-screen combinations during the 1990s and early 2000s. Their films often featured romance, comedy, family drama and memorable musical sequences, helping them build a loyal audience.

Their reunion on Koffee With Karan gave fans an opportunity to revisit that era through personal anecdotes rather than simply discussing their filmography. The story about the outfit also showed how differently co-stars can remember an incident years after it happens.

Salman and Karisma appeared together in several popular Hindi films, including Judwaa (1997), Biwi No. 1 (1999), Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge (2000) and Chal Mere Bhai (2000). They also appeared in Andaz Apna Apna (1994), alongside Aamir Khan and Raveena Tandon, and Hum Saath-Saath Hain (1999).

Their on-screen chemistry helped make them a recognisable pairing for audiences. While their characters often found themselves in romantic or comic situations, the actors’ real-life working relationship also appears to have included plenty of banter and disagreements.

A Look Back at ‘Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge’

Released in 2000, Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge was a romantic comedy directed by David Dhawan. The film starred Salman as Raja Oberoi and Karisma as Sapna, a young woman raised by her three eccentric uncles.

The story follows Raja as he falls in love with Sapna and tries to win the approval of her uncles, each of whom has a different idea of the kind of man she should marry. Paresh Rawal, Om Puri and Anupam Kher played the three uncles.

The film’s music, comic situations and lead pair’s chemistry contributed to its popularity and made it one of the notable romantic comedies of its time.

‘Koffee With Karan 9’ Brings Back Bollywood Memories

Karan Johar’s ninth season of Koffee With Karan is the final edition of the long-running celebrity talk show. Opening the season with Salman Khan gave viewers a chance to hear the actor share stories from his personal and professional life.

Karisma’s appearance added another layer of nostalgia, as the two stars revisited their shared history and recalled moments from a film that remains familiar to many Bollywood fans.

Their conversation about the outfit disagreement was a reminder that even successful on-screen partnerships can involve differences behind the scenes. Years later, the incident became a light-hearted story that allowed Salman and Karisma to laugh about their working relationship and revisit a memorable chapter of their careers.
