R. B. Choudary’s Final Public Appearance Goes Viral, Leaves Film Fraternity Emotional
The last public appearance of veteran producer R. B. Choudary, who tragically passed away in a car accident near Udaipur on Tuesday, has gone viral on social media, leaving the South Indian film fraternity and fans deeply moved.
Choudary was last seen at the success meet of his son Jiiva’s film Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimayil in Chennai on January 31. The now widely circulated video captures a warm and affectionate moment between the veteran producer and his son—one that has since taken on a poignant significance.
During the event, Jiiva invited his father on stage, explaining that he wanted to receive his blessings. Referring to him as an “OG producer” and a towering figure in Tamil cinema, Jiiva shared that the film was made on a modest budget and that Choudary had appreciated the effort behind it.
In a touching moment, Choudary called his grandson Sparsh onto the stage, creating a light-hearted exchange. Jiiva jokingly remarked that he felt “inferior” sharing the stage with his grown-up son, drawing laughter from the audience and adding warmth to the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Choudary revealed that he had largely stepped away from public appearances in recent years but chose to attend this event to express his gratitude. “Today I came here to thank everyone. This is an occasion to thank you all for this success,” he said, acknowledging the audience and the team behind the film.
Turning to Jiiva, he reflected on his son’s journey in cinema, noting that while some films had succeeded and others had not, he was happy with the response to Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimayil. He concluded the moment by affectionately kissing Jiiva on stage—a gesture that has since resonated deeply with viewers online.
The clip has gone viral in the days following his reported passing, with many describing it as a heartfelt and fitting final memory of the veteran producer.
