Filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani has opened up about Shah Rukh Khan’s incredible work ethic, revealing that despite being one of India’s biggest superstars, the actor continues to approach every project with the passion and discipline of someone just starting out in the industry.
Speaking in a recent interaction with IANS, Hirani reflected on his experience of working with some of Bollywood’s finest actors and said that true dedication is not determined by stardom but by an individual’s attitude towards their craft.
The acclaimed director, who has worked with actors including Aamir Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi, Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal, said he has witnessed the same level of commitment from all of them.
“I have worked with Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi, Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal. I find the same amount of dedication in them. It is a personal attitude,” Hirani said.
However, it was Shah Rukh Khan’s preparation process that particularly stood out to the filmmaker.
Recalling their collaboration, Hirani shared that Shah Rukh would rehearse every scene before the actual shoot and record those rehearsals on his phone. The actor would then send the videos to the director daily so they could discuss and improve the performance before filming.
Hirani admitted that the superstar’s commitment surprised him.
“He used to send me rehearsals like a newcomer. He used to record his shooting rehearsals on his phone every day and send me. I used to feel like I was working with a newcomer,” he revealed.
The filmmaker explained that despite decades of success and countless blockbuster films, Shah Rukh never behaves like someone who has nothing left to prove. Instead, he continues to prepare thoroughly, seeking feedback and constantly working to improve every performance.
