Sobhita Dhulipala has spoken out about the online scrutiny faced by women in the film industry, including the recent trolling directed at Katrina Kaif over her postpartum appearance. The actress highlighted the unrealistic expectations placed on women and said that everyone deals with public criticism differently.

Katrina Kaif has largely stayed away from the spotlight since embracing motherhood. The actress and her husband, Vicky Kaushal, welcomed their son, Vihaan, in November 2025. While Katrina has maintained a relatively low profile, her recent public appearance became a topic of discussion on social media, with some users commenting on her postpartum body and appearance.

The comments soon sparked a larger conversation about the way women, especially actresses, are judged for their bodies after childbirth. Several Bollywood celebrities came forward to support Katrina and criticised the focus on her appearance instead of allowing her to enjoy this important phase of her life.

Now, Sobhita Dhulipala has also shared her perspective on the issue.

During a recent NDTV event, Sobhita was asked about the kind of scrutiny women in the entertainment industry face. The question also touched upon the criticism surrounding Katrina’s postpartum appearance.

Sobhita pointed out that women are often expected to meet several expectations at the same time. According to her, women are expected to be strong, sensitive and many other things, even though every individual responds to difficult situations differently.

“Women are expected to be strong, women are expected to be sensitive, women are expected to be many things. And different women handle things differently, so there is no generic rule,” Sobhita said.

She also acknowledged that public criticism can be difficult for anyone because celebrities are human too. She explained that while some people may find it disappointing or upsetting, everyone has their own way of dealing with such situations.

“Like when you say that public criticism is disappointing, I am sure it can be for many people; we are all human. We just deal with it in a way that makes sense for us,” she added.

Sobhita’s comments highlight a larger issue surrounding the constant scrutiny faced by actresses. From their bodies and appearance to their personal lives and choices, women in Bollywood are often subjected to intense public judgment.

Katrina’s recent trolling has once again brought attention to the pressure placed on new mothers to quickly return to their pre-pregnancy appearance. Sobhita’s remarks serve as a reminder that there is no single way for a woman to handle motherhood, criticism or life in the public eye.

For Katrina, this phase is about motherhood and spending time with her newborn son. The growing support from fellow celebrities also shows that conversations around postpartum changes and unrealistic beauty expectations are becoming increasingly important in the industry.
