Samay Raina Calls Sunil Pal “Frustrated,” Says He Lacks Mental Peace Amid India’s Got Latent Controversy
Stand-up comedian Samay Raina has responded strongly to veteran comic Sunil Pal’s criticism during the ongoing fallout from the India’s Got Latent controversy. In a recent interview, Raina described Pal as a “frustrated man” who, according to him, lacks mental peace and is projecting his insecurities through public statements.
“I don’t think about him”: Samay Raina reacts
Speaking on The Longest Interview podcast hosted by Vaibhav Munjal, Samay Raina was shown Sunil Pal’s photograph and asked for his views. Raina said he does not dwell on such criticism and believes people who speak negatively about others are often dealing with personal struggles.
“I don’t think about him. I feel bad for him. Something is bothering him, some insecurity. That man doesn’t have mental peace,” Raina said, adding that he hopes Pal finds peace in life.
He further stated that when someone repeatedly criticizes others, it often reflects their internal state rather than the people they are targeting.
Remarks during India’s Got Latent controversy
Raina also referenced the broader backlash around the India’s Got Latent controversy, stating that only people who were already frustrated reacted strongly against the show.
“Did Kapil Sharma say anything against us? Or any good actor? Many people could have spoken, but only those not at peace came forward,” he said.
He also suggested that those who are emotionally stable tend to avoid engaging in public outrage.
Sunil Pal’s earlier criticism
Sunil Pal had previously slammed Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia during the controversy, calling them out for their content. In earlier remarks, Pal went so far as to demand strict punishment for creators he accused of spreading offensive material.
Following the exchange, both comedians reportedly even collaborated on an advertisement, despite the public dispute.
Kapil Sharma reference and industry reactions
Raina also mentioned that Sunil Pal had advised him to “learn from Kapil Sharma,” adding that popular comedian Kapil Sharma was originally scheduled to appear on a future episode of his show.
He further commented on the selective nature of criticism within the industry, implying that established and secure figures rarely engage in controversies of this kind.
Looking ahead
Despite the controversy, Raina also teased the possibility of India’s Got Latent returning for a second season, indicating that the project may continue despite the backlash and debates surrounding it.
The exchange highlights ongoing tensions in India’s stand-up comedy scene, where online content, live performances, and public opinion increasingly intersect.
