Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu may be preparing to take a maternity break, but it appears she already has an exciting new project in the pipeline. Just days after announcing that she would be stepping away from work for a while as she awaits the birth of her first child with husband Raj Nidimoru, Samantha has teased what looks to be her much-awaited return to Tamil entertainment.

The buzz began after Sony LIV Tamil shared a post on social media, revealing that they have been working on something special with the actress. Without revealing any details, the platform promised an announcement soon, saying they were excited to share the project with audiences.

Samantha also reshared the post on her Instagram Stories with a simple message, writing, “Looking forward,” along with a white heart emoji. While neither the actress nor the streaming platform disclosed what the project is, the post was enough to spark excitement among fans, many of whom welcomed the possibility of seeing her in a Tamil project again.

The announcement comes shortly after the success of Samantha’s Telugu action drama Maa Inti Bangaaram. During the film’s promotions, the actress had revealed that she would be taking a short maternity break because of her pregnancy. She assured fans that the break would only be temporary and promised to return with another project after welcoming her child.

Samantha has enjoyed a successful career in both Telugu and Tamil cinema since making her acting debut in 2010. However, she has often admitted that she wishes she had done more Tamil films over the years. While promoting Maa Inti Bangaaram in Chennai, she confessed that not signing enough Tamil projects remains one of her biggest career regrets.

Her last Tamil film was Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal, directed by Vignesh Shivan and co-starring Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara. Since then, fans have been eagerly waiting to see her return to Tamil cinema.

Samantha married filmmaker Raj Nidimoru in December 2025, and the couple announced in June this year that they are expecting their first child. Before embracing motherhood, the actress had also taken a break from work to focus on her health after being diagnosed with the autoimmune condition myositis.

While the upcoming Sony LIV project remains under wraps, Samantha’s latest teaser suggests that even as she prepares for motherhood, she is already planning her next professional chapter. Fans will now be eagerly waiting to find out whether the mystery project is a film, a web series, or something entirely new.
