Actor Sonu Sood has reacted to the controversy surrounding Kangana Ranaut’s recent comments about Gen Z protesters, saying that such remarks are unfortunate and should not have been made. His response comes days after Kangana referred to a section of young protesters as “Generation Gutter,” a statement that has sparked widespread criticism on social media.
While speaking to the media, Sonu admitted that he had not watched Kangana’s complete statement. However, he stressed that actors owe their success to the people who support them, especially the younger generation.
According to Sonu, audiences are the reason actors reach the heights of success, and respecting them should always remain a priority. He said that as long as people stand by an artist, their career continues to flourish, but losing the support of the public can make that journey much more difficult.
When asked directly about Kangana’s use of the term “Generation Gutter,” Sonu gave a straightforward response. He said that if she indeed made that statement, then it was “very shameful” and should never have been said.
The actor also reminded public figures to be mindful of their words. Referring to the popular saying “Tol mol ke bol” (weigh your words before speaking), Sonu said people should always think carefully before making public statements because the audience deserves respect.
He further added that the public is like another form of God, and every celebrity should remember that their success is built on the love and trust of ordinary people.
The controversy began after Kangana Ranaut shared a series of Instagram Stories criticising a section of Gen Z protesters participating in the ongoing CJP-led demonstrations. She called them “Generation Gutter” and accused them of glorifying unhealthy lifestyles while depending financially on their parents.
Kangana also argued that real independence comes from financial self-reliance and taking responsibility for one’s choices. Her remarks quickly triggered strong reactions from several public figures and social media users.
