Saif Ali Khan is gearing up for Haiwaan, which marks his reunion with Akshay Kumar after 17 years. Ahead of the film, the actor has opened up about the lasting impact of the attack he faced at his Bandra home last year and how the incident changed the way he looks at security and life.

In an interview with Gulf News, Saif admitted that he has become more cautious since the incident. He said he was never particularly fond of having heavy security around him and preferred living with a sense of openness. However, the attack made him realise that it is important to be more careful.

“I wasn’t a big fan of security, and I quite liked an open thing. But my takeaway is that there are a lot of haves and have-nots in the world, and you should not tempt fate. So you have to lock the doors, you have to put away the valuables, and you have to understand how lucky you are and how unlucky most people are,” Saif said.

The actor also revealed that the memory of the incident has stayed with him. Reflecting on how quickly the situation turned violent, he said he continues to think about how close he came to losing his life.

“It doesn’t really leave you. I just remember just how lucky I was, how close it came, how violent that whole thing was and how quick it was,” he said.

Saif Ali Khan recalls emotional impact of the attack

Beyond concerns about security, Saif said the incident also had a deep emotional impact on him. Looking back, he recalled a moment when he genuinely felt that his life might be coming to an end, but even then, he found himself reflecting on everything he had experienced.

“There are two things. One is that, and emotional dealing with that, which just feels very lucky. I remember feeling at one point that this must be it, but I also remember thinking it’s been an amazing life,” Saif shared.

The experience appears to have changed Saif’s perspective, making him more aware of his own vulnerability as well as the circumstances of people who may not have the same privileges and security that he does.

As Saif prepares for his next film, his recent reflections show how deeply the traumatic incident affected him—not only in terms of security, but also in the way he looks at life and feels grateful for the second chance he received.
