Kyle Jamieson’s Stunning Admission After Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Duel: “Never Been So Afraid of a 15-Year-Old”
Delhi Capitals pacer Kyle Jamieson has made a surprising revelation following his fiery encounter with Rajasthan Royals’ teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi during their IPL 2026 clash.
Despite dismissing the 15-year-old early in the match, Jamieson admitted after the game that the youngster’s reputation had genuinely unsettled him heading into the contest.
“I don’t think I have ever been so fearful of a 15-year-old kid in my life,” Jamieson said in a video shared on the IPL website, opening up candidly about the high-pressure duel.
Early Breakthrough in a High-Stakes Clash
The moment of impact came when Jamieson delivered a precise yorker to send Sooryavanshi back to the pavilion, giving Delhi Capitals an early breakthrough in a crucial match against Rajasthan Royals.
The wicket proved important as DC managed to gain early control, even though Rajasthan Royals recovered strongly later in the innings through contributions from Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, and Donovan Ferreira, eventually posting a competitive total of 225.
Jamieson also highlighted the team’s pre-match planning, especially their focus on containing Rajasthan’s explosive opening pair.
“For most teams looking at Rajasthan’s side, it’s their top two that have got them off to fliers. Starc got one with a high full toss and I got one with a yorker. It was nice to get away early and stem the flow in the powerplay,” he explained.

Praise for Starc and Team Combination
Jamieson, who came into the side replacing injured Lungi Ngidi, also spoke highly of his new-ball partner Mitchell Starc, who made an immediate impact with a three-wicket haul.
“He is world class, right? So whenever you can have one of those guys in your squad, it’s a huge benefit. Nice to share the new ball with him,” Jamieson said.
The Kiwi pacer added that Starc’s arrival came at a crucial time as Delhi Capitals looked to climb the points table and regain momentum in the tournament.
Controlled Aggression Under Scrutiny
Jamieson’s on-field celebration after dismissing Sooryavanshi had already drawn attention and led to a reprimand from the IPL governing authorities. However, his post-match comments have shifted focus back to the intensity of the contest and the pressure of facing emerging talent in high-stakes games.
While the teenager continues to earn praise for his fearless batting, Jamieson’s admission adds another layer to what has already become one of the most talked-about matchups of IPL 2026.
