Mukesh Chhabra Reveals How Big Bollywood Stars Joined Dhurandhar: The Revenge
Renowned casting director Mukesh Chhabra has shared behind-the-scenes insights into the making of Dhurandhar: The Revenge, revealing that several prominent actors were initially hesitant to join the project. In an interview with Hindustan Times, Chhabra disclosed that actors like Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, and Akshaye Khanna took time before confirming their roles, while R. Madhavan was the only actor who agreed immediately.
“Initially, even Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, and Akshaye Khanna were not sure about being a part of the film. Only R. Madhavan said yes. For the others, it took time. Aditya [Dhar] and I were considering so many people, and honestly, earlier, we had never thought we would cast so many big stars,” Chhabra said.
He explained the reason for the actors’ hesitation, noting that concerns about screen time were a major factor. “Madhavan and Arjun were on the set of the film only for 12 days. Most actors usually worry about how much screen time they will get. We said that here, the impact is what matters. If you look at Madhavan’s part, with only 12 to 14 days of work, the impact of the role is huge,” Chhabra added, highlighting the film’s focus on powerful presence over lengthy screen appearances.
The insight sheds light on the strategic casting decisions that helped Dhurandhar: The Revenge assemble a star-studded ensemble while ensuring that every character, regardless of screen time, left a strong impression on audiences. It also reflects director Aditya Dhar’s vision of emphasizing impactful performances and narrative significance over conventional lead roles.
With this approach, the film managed to balance multiple high-profile actors while maintaining a cohesive story, proving that sometimes quality of presence outweighs quantity of screen time in creating memorable cinematic moments.
