Bollywood actor Kriti Sanon has spoken candidly about the gender disparity that still exists in the film industry, saying that women are often treated differently compared to their male counterparts on film sets.

In a recent conversation with Filmfare, the actress highlighted that despite progress over the years, unequal treatment continues to be a reality behind the scenes. She pointed out that male actors are often given better facilities such as more comfortable vanity vans, premium hotel arrangements, and even preferential treatment when it comes to on-set arrangements.

Kriti said these differences are not just isolated incidents but experiences that do happen, making women feel less important at times. She emphasised that such treatment should not be based on gender but on the individual’s contribution and professionalism.

The actress admitted that these situations do affect her personally, noting that it is disappointing to still see such disparities in a modern industry. According to her, respect and recognition should be consistent for everyone, regardless of gender.

At the same time, Kriti also acknowledged that the industry is slowly evolving in the right direction. She said there are now more women-led films, increased participation of female producers, and a growing awareness about equality on sets. However, she stressed that despite these positive changes, there is still a long way to go before true parity is achieved.

Her comments add to the ongoing conversation in Bollywood about workplace equality and the need for more balanced treatment and opportunities across genders.
