The tragic death of television actor Sanchita Ugale has left the entertainment industry in shock. As friends, colleagues and fans continue to mourn her passing, her Dilwali Dulha Le Jayegi co-star Sorab Bedi recently found himself facing criticism online over comments he made while reacting to the news.
Now, the actor has broken his silence and clarified his remarks, saying they were taken out of context and insisting that he would never speak insensitively about someone he considered a close friend.
What Sorab Said After Sanchita’s Death
A day after Sanchita’s death, Sorab spoke to paparazzi and revealed that he had been in touch with her shortly before the tragedy.
“I got to know about the incident this morning. She must have been distressed. I talked to her two days ago. I will visit her home and meet her family too,” he said.
During the interaction, Sorab also mentioned that Sanchita had been troubled and under stress, saying, “Pareshan thi wo bechari.”
His comments quickly went viral on social media. While some sympathised with him, others questioned how he could make assumptions about her state of mind, leading to criticism and trolling online.
Sorab Responds To Trolls
Reacting to the backlash, Sorab took to Instagram Stories and shared a video explaining his side of the story. He urged people not to judge him based on incomplete clips and stressed that his words had been misunderstood.
Sharing the video, he wrote, “Bhai soch samajh ke bola karo please,” asking people to think before reacting or spreading conclusions.
In the video, Sorab explained that he had been surrounded by several paparazzi at the time and was being bombarded with questions.
“Bhai mere paas bahut saare paps baat karne aaye the. Us situation mein aap har kisi ka question properly nahi sun paate,” he said.
The actor clarified that he had only intended to say that he and Sanchita had been speaking regularly.
“Maine bola tha ki Sanchita mujhe bahut din se call kar rahi thi. Main Siliguri mein tha tab bhi hamari baat hui thi,” he added.

“I’m Not Heartless”
Clearly upset by the criticism, Sorab said he would never disrespect someone who meant so much to him.
“Itna bedil main bhi nahi hoon. Har cheez ko galat mat liya karo yaar. Itna bewakoof main bhi nahi hoon aur itna bedil bhi nahi hoon,” he said.
He further questioned whether people understood the bond he shared with Sanchita.
“Tumhe pata hai woh meri kitni achi dost thi ya nahi thi?” he asked.

To support his clarification, Sorab also shared another video showing the chaotic paparazzi interaction, hoping people would understand the circumstances in which his comments were made.
An Emotional Tribute
Soon after learning about Sanchita’s passing, Sorab had paid tribute to her on social media. Sharing a poster from their show Dilwali Dulha Le Jayegi, he wrote:
“No Chotttuuuu. You were, you are and you’ll always be my favourite. Gonna miss you.”
